Harper said, "Benjamin, I comprehend your point, but considering there are individuals backing the Martin Group, isn't it preferable to have some support rather than none at all, especially at this juncture?"
"Yes, but I still haven't found the mastermind behind uniting these people and companies to speak for the Martin Group."
Benjamin's voice was clear, but Harper subconsciously frowned.
She asked in a low voice, "Who do you think is most likely?"
Benjamin pondered about it. "Anyone is possible and yet impossible. It's not a simple thing to unite so many people and companies, but those within my acquaintance wouldn't resort to such an anonymous method, so I still have no idea of it."
Harper nodded and became flustered. Then, she said, "Let's talk about it after this matter is over. Don't be distracted now."
"Okay," Benjamin whispered magnetically.
They chatted for a few more words, and Harper's mood improved.
She was joyful. It had been three or four days since the collapse, and each day had been filled with urgency. Public opinions surged incessantly. While Benjamin remained composed, she couldn't help but be anxious.
Finally, there was a piece of good news, and the Martin Group's tense situation could be eased a little.
As for Harper, as the architect of the collapse project, even though it was now evident that it wasn't a mere accident, suspicion surrounding her couldn't be dispelled until the complete truth about the matter was unveiled.
After ending the call with Benjamin, Harper started to discuss the competition entry with Sophia and the others formally.
When they were discussing it seriously, Frank came.
He knocked on the door and looked at Harper. "Harper, can I talk to you?"
Harper was slightly startled and nodded. "Yes."
After instructing Sophia and the others to talk about it, she left her office and went to Frank's.
Harper asked, "Frank, what do you want to talk to me about?"
"Did you contact those celebrities and companies that supported the Martin Group?"
Harper panicked, but it only took a second or two for her to return to normal. She smiled, "What prompted that question?"
"Harper, you know that Benjamin doesn't have a crush on you. He is unwilling to divorce because of the baby. Why don't you treat yourself better? You gave him all your resources. Will he fall in love with you?"
Frank's remark was harsh and ferocious, which displeased Harper extremely.
She wondered if he should remind her repeatedly for fear that she would forget, even though it was true.
Harper sighed silently and then asked, "Frank, are you implying that regardless of my efforts for the Martin Group or Benjamin's sake, he won't have any feelings for me? Are you suggesting that no matter how much I give, I can never earn a sincere affection in return?"
"Harper, I..."
"I won't deny that what you said is true, but this is my business. I can make my own decisions and choices. As my friend, you can give me appropriate advice, but you can't depress me."
