The more Harper contemplated it, the more incredible ideas emerged in her mind. However, as soon as they occurred to her, she immediately denied them.
It was impossible.
It wouldn't be that case.
Frank would not have offered to stand in for her as the architect of this project to get the Martin Group to admit its fault in the accident.
Harper felt she must have been overthinking it.
She shook her head, looking extremely anxious.
Annie reached out and waved before her. "What are you thinking?"
Harper came back to her senses and met Annie's eyes. She shook her head and said nothing.
She remembered a sentence she had heard before.
"If a person harbors doubts about another person, they will continue endlessly."
Harper was overwhelmed with depression, and her expression was a little solemn. Annie didn't say anything else to avoid upsetting her.
Harper spent most of the afternoon in silence and daze.
It wasn't until the alarm rang that she picked up her phone and noticed Benjamin's message.
When she was about to reply, Benjamin called.
She answered it immediately. "Benjamin, I just paid heed to my phone."
"Are you busy?"
"No, I'm slacking off."
She sounded weak, and Benjamin naturally realized it.
He said, "Since you're not busy, come downstairs. I'm waiting for you in the parking garage."
Although there were still one or two reporters on guard, it was a very different scene from before the morning.
Harper checked the time. "You came here so early."
It was not even half past four, and it was too early for dinner.
Benjamin said, "Grandpa misses you, so I must take you back. He probably hasn't seen you for a long time and wants to chat with you, so let's go there early, okay?"
At the mention of Paul, Harper didn't hesitate anymore.
After sorting out the documents and materials related to the drawings, she picked up her bag and left the office.
She said goodbye to Annie and asked her to return home early before taking the elevator downstairs.
It had been a long time since Harper and Benjamin had been back at the Martin Manor. In the meantime, the emergencies followed one after the other. She was reluctant to come here, fearing that she would betray her bad mood and worry Paul, Scott, and Lily.
