Antonio stepped on the man's leg, shattered by bullets, as the man clutched at Antonio's thigh, begging for mercy. "Please, I won't do it again, I swear!"
"Who sent you?" Antonio spat out a string of unfamiliar names, breaking a finger for each name he said. The man writhed in agony, confessing to being hired to follow and kidnap me.
The man's cries buzzed in my head.
After dealing with him, Antonio ordered his men to take him away. But having heard everything the man repeated, I realized I was implicated because of Antonio. He had taken me to that restaurant and kissed me deliberately, like marking his territory, just to lure this man out...
I glared at him, pushing him away, my fear, panic, and heartache intermingled, shattering my illusions of Antonio. "Are you a devil? Why would you do this to me?"
A terrifying silence filled the dark alley. Matteo stared at me, his eyes wide and mouth agape.
Dante expressionlessly dragged Matteo and the man on the ground out of the alley.
"Damn you!" Antonio choked me against the wall, the plaster crumbling under his fists. "Do you know who you're talking to, Sienna? I've warned you many times, remember your place as my mistress, don't take my kindness for granted!"
He was furious. My neck under his grip, I felt the suffocating pain, my face turning bright red, but I was defiant! Even if I was just a mistress, forced into his plaything, my fate wasn't his to toy with!
He insulted me, draining the little affection I had left for him. He was just like Nico, both scum!
I struggled, punching his chest and kicking at his shins and knees, my desperation giving me strength.
He was going to kill me! All his tender moments, special treatments, were just his ways to deceive, using me as a shield, a ruthless mafioso!
Antonio watched coldly as I nearly fainted from suffocation before he finally loosened his grip, letting me collapse weakly on the filthy ground.
Fresh air rushed into my bruised throat. I coughed violently, tears streaming uncontrollably as I clutched at my chest, feeling nauseous.
"I'm ending our contract!" I tried to shout, but only a hoarse whisper came out, barely audible even to myself. Antonio glanced coldly and stepped into the darkness of the alley.
I had to end it! A strong sense of danger overwhelmed me. I couldn't entangle further with Antonio, a massive temptation and a massive threat, he would consume me completely.
I knelt, too weak to stand, crawling to pick up the shower gel. Matteo ran over to help me up. "Boss told me to take you home and pack your things."
I wanted to push him away, but my legs trembled too much; I couldn't walk on my own, and I couldn't bear to stay a moment longer, I was so cold, I needed a shower!
Matteo left me at my doorstep. "That's as far as I go." He scratched his head, his eyes gleaming under the street lamps. "You're tough, the first woman to hit our boss, and miraculously, he didn't shoot you."
