Zoe shook her head. She watched as the elevator door closed and said softly, “My marriage is in the dumps. I can’t afford to lose my career along with it. It’ll be fine, David. Let’s go!”
The private party was surprisingly successful.
Zoe performed ‘A Pair of Butterflies’ before prestigious figures in the music industry and found herself hailed as the most beautiful rising classical violinist. Aiden was especially pleased with her performance and introduced her to a lot of people.
She drank a lot of wine tonight. She felt a little uncomfortable on the way back. It felt as if her stomach was on fire. Luke sent her home and made sure the servants were aware of her condition. He asked them to make some tea and send it to Zoe’s room.
The servant was concerned about her and went away to prepare tea immediately. However, she found Zoe slumped on the couch when she came upstairs. Beads of sweat covered Zoe’s forehead as she clutched her tummy.
The sight shocked the servant to the core. She shook Zoe to wake her up, “Are you feeling unwell, Ms. Zoe? Should I give a call to Mr. Mason?”
The pain was so unbearable that Zoe couldn’t find the strength to say anything.
It felt terrible… The pain was too excruciating…
The servant saw the state Zoe was in and felt both panic and heartbreak. Using the house phone, she called Mason, but he didn’t pick up her calls at all. In the end, she sprinted downstairs and called for Luke’s help. Then, both of them carried Zoe into the car.
Zoe was disoriented from the pain, but she had to go to the hospital. That much she knew. So, she murmured that she wasn’t going to Lockwood Hospital. She made it clear that she didn’t want to see Mason.
Luke stepped on the gas pedal and drove to Samphia Hospital. He recalled that Zoe had a friend there who was a doctor. It’d make things easier if there was someone she knew!
With that said, it had never occurred to anyone that Lilith had checked into Samphia Hospital as well.
Sometimes, fate was just too cruel.
After the doctors checked on Zoe, they determined it was a stomach spasm, caused by the wine as well as her mood swings. She took some medicine and spent the night in the hospital. The next morning, she felt much better.
She woke up and the servant went to handle the discharge procedure. She felt a little dizzy. So, she decided to take a stroll.
Wandering in the hallway, she could see the hospital garden through the glass and felt slightly better. She decided she’d stop to appreciate the sight.
