"Wait!"
Jervis chased after Mia and handed her the chilblain ointment he had bought.
Finding her hands occupied, Jervis stuffed the ointment into her pocket and then made way for her to leave.
Mia looked down at the ointment stuffed in her pocket and then at Jervis.
Her dark and bright eyes were smudged with gratitude and helplessness.
She left.
He didn't stop her anymore.
After Jervis returned to Eudora's house and stayed for a while, they packed up their things and prepared to leave.
Eudora still wanted to stay at home with her adoptive parents, so she didn't go back to Kenison City with them.
At the time of parting, Colbert dragged Eudora into her bedroom.
"What are you doing? Why are you so mysterious?" Eudora couldn't help laughing.
Colbert closed the door. When he turned to face Eudora, he held her hand with one hand and clasped the back of her head with the other. He leaned over to kiss her lips.
Eudora felt his heavy breath. Surrounded by familiar breath, she enjoyed his kiss instantly.
She slowly lifted her hands hanging by her sides to wrap around his waist and stood on tiptoe to respond to his kiss.
For a couple in love, the parting was the most upsetting.
The two kissed passionately. Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.
Eudora pushed Colbert away, tilted her head, and asked, "Who is it? Wait a moment."
Then, there was no sound outside.
Only then did Eudora look at Colbert and notice the glistening water stains on the corners of his lips.
She blushed, raised her hand to help him wipe them away, and said a little shyly, "I have to stay with my parents, and I will return to Kenison City in a few days."
Holding Eudora's hand, Colbert gently stroked the back of her hand with his thumb. "I have to hurry back to Camford Country for some matters. When you return to Kenison City, I should be back, too."
"Okay. Take care of yourself over there."
"The same to you."
"Besides..."
Eudora suddenly became serious, raised her finger to his nose, and warned, "If I find out that you lie to me again, we will be over. I can't tolerate grit in my eyes, let alone lies and betrayal."
"I see, Mrs. Steele."
