Everyone in the private room instinctively rose to their feet to welcome their arrival. Even Shi Wei joined in, albeit reluctantly. She was intimidated by Fu Chengyan’s domineering aura. The same applied to Fu Xicheng. He had been gluing his eyes on Fu Chengyan and Shi Nuan right from the very moment they stepped into the room.

Fu Chengyan was wearing a cream-colored sweater together with a pair of faded blue jeans. With his pretty face, he looked like a guy in his early twenties. Yet, he made sure everyone treated him seriously with his penetrating gaze.

As for Shi Nuan, she was wearing a similar outfit as him. Obviously, the two were rocking couple outfits.

The two made their way to the table, looking calm and collected. Fu Chengyan first helped his wife with the seat before sitting down himself. He scanned everyone in the room with his penetrating eyes and asked after a brief pause, “Why’re all of you standing?”

“Oh, please excuse us! Come on, let’s sit down!” Fu Yuqing was the first to break out of his trance. His eyes flickered with admiration while examining Fu Chengyan and Shi Nuan’s matching outfits. “Chengyan… Well… Mr. Fu and Mrs. Fu, I must say that the two of you really look like a perfect couple!”

Shi Nuan smiled in response. “Mr. Fu, thank you for the compliment. I think we look good too!”

She did not think there was any problem with complimenting themselves. With her eyes glinting with delight, she gave everyone else a cursory glance before turning to the restaurant manager standing in the corner of the private room. “May I have the menu, please?”

“Nuan, we already made an order earlier,” Shi Wei couldn’t help but point out.

It pissed Shi Wei to see Shi Nuan basking in the limelight as that used to belong to her wherever she went. While I’m a superstar, Shi Nuan is only a wage-earner. What makes her so special that she’s capable of stealing my thunder now? Is it because she’s Fu Chengyan’s wife?

Shi Nuan was startled by Shi Wei’s reminder. Then, she quickly put the smile back on her face and asked the restaurant manager, “Is that so?”

“Yes, Mrs. Fu!” As it was not Shi Nuan and Fu Chengyan’s first time patronizing the restaurant, the manager had long acquainted and been on good terms with the couple. In a friendly manner, he handed the menu to Shi Nuan and said, “These are the dishes ordered by the gentleman over there just now. However, some of them are not quite fancied by Mr. Fu. So…”

Shi Nuan nodded at him reassuringly. “Just leave it to me!”

She gave a fleeting glance at the list of dishes ordered by Fu Yuqing before starting to filter it. “Remove this, this, and that because Yan doesn’t like them. Also, these two dishes are too oily for Yan’s liking too!”

“Take out this… and this… There’re so many dishes on this list! Whoa, we actually ordered one dish from each category of the menu?” Shi Nuan looked at Fu Yuqing with a somewhat horrified expression. “Mr. Fu, although the dishes here are made with the finest ingredients, there are certain foods we shouldn’t consume together due to the theory of mutual inhibition. In fact, the same thing applies to people too!”

Fu Yuqing’s face stiffened in response. “I ordered everything because I wasn’t sure about Mr. Fu’s preference. It was a safe bet so that Mr. Fu can choose and eat the dishes he likes.”

“Mr. Fu, that’s very thoughtful of you.” With a pleasant smile, she added, “However, we shouldn’t be wasteful when it comes to food.” Shi Nuan closed the menu and announced, “That’ll be all. Other than the items I’ve removed, I’ll leave you to serve the dishes in the order you decide. All of us will have tea instead of liquor.” She turned to Fu Chengyan before saying to the restaurant manager, “Shall we go for Pu’er? It has a mild taste, and it’s gentle for your stomach.”

Fu Chengyan nodded. “Okay. I’ll leave you to make the decision,” he said, sounding distracted.

He reached out to give Shi Nuan’s hand a light squeeze as if everyone else at the table were non-existent.

Shi Nuan did not stop him from fiddling with her fingers. Meanwhile, she flashed a broad grin at Shi Jingzheng and Jiang Yu. “Father, Mother, I’m sorry for not informing the two of you when I got married to Yan. So, I’m making it up to you guys by having this dinner tonight. Yan, I’m sure you’ve met my parents before.”

“I have.” Fu Chengyan nodded before fixing his gaze on Shi Jingzheng and Jiang Yu. “I should start calling the two of you Father and Mother!” Right after that, he shouted at the door, “Zhou Zheng!”

The door to the private room was immediately pushed open from the outside. Zhou Zheng strode into the room with two bodyguards dressed in full black in tow. The two men had their hands full with shopping bags. “At first, I thought my marriage with May was something private between the two of us. However, since May has stressed the importance of certain traditional customs and etiquettes, I do see the need of adhering to them. Zhou Zheng!”

“Yes!” Zhou Zheng nodded and instructed the two bodyguards to pass all the stuff to Shi Jingzheng. “Father, please take a look at what’s inside!”

“There’s no need to do so. I’m pretty sure there must be some really nice stuff in there.” Shi Jingzheng knew from Fu Chengyan’s tone that he should be contented with having the gifts offered by him. Also, Fu Chengyan had made it very clear that he was only here because of Shi Nuan.

“Since I’ve made May my wife, I’ll surely be nice to her for the rest of my life. So, I’d not like to hear anyone saying that I’ll dump May one day. No matter she likes it or not, she will be my one and only wife in my entire life.”

Everyone gasped at his remark; they had not seen that coming. Jiang Yu, who had made that exact remark before, was experiencing a burning sensation on her cheeks, feeling as though she had just been slapped by someone.
