Shi Nuan finally opened her eyes. She gargled. When she was about to take her toothbrush, Fu Chengyan snatched it and stuffed it inside her mouth. “Open your mouth.” Then, he brushed Shi Nuan’s teeth.

A minty feeling spread through her mouth, and Shi Nuan finally felt refreshed. She blinked a few times and took over the toothbrush in his hand. “I’ll do it myself. Yan, you brush your teeth too!”

“Okay.”

Swinging her legs, Shi Nuan brushed her teeth as she glanced sideways at Fu Chengyan.

The window in the bathroom was slightly open. The cool breeze from outside made its way into the bathroom. Early mornings were still quite breezy even though it was already early summer.

Shi Nuan blinked. Fu Chengyan passed her a cup of water to gargle. Shi Nuan quickly rinsed her mouth and jumped off from the sink area. Fu Chengyan responded briskly and caught her hands. “Be careful!”

“Yan, I’m not that weak.” Shi Nuan took the towel and washed her face. After she was done, she noticed that Fu Chengyan was shaving. She reached out to poke his face. “Can I help you?”

“Stop messing around and go get changed. We’re going to be late!” Fu Chengyan reached out to pat her head and brushed his fingers against her cheeks.

Shi Nuan wanted to protest but she knew they were indeed running late. Afraid that Fu Chengyan might use this as an excuse to not bring her to the office, she hurriedly went to change her clothes.

The two of them held hands as they went downstairs. Fu Zhengyun was just back from his Tai Chi session in the garden. Curious to see Shi Nuan getting up so early, he asked, “Why did you wake up so early? Where are you going?”

Fu Zhengyun’s tone was icy. “You should rest well at home if you’re pregnant. Do you feel like the number of servants at home is not enough to cater to your needs?”

“Grandpa!” Shi Nuan was in a good mood. She did not wish to quarrel with Fu Zhengyun early in the morning. “Isn’t it good that I wake up earlier? The doctor mentioned that I have to wake up early to exercise. This is going to better for the baby. Isn’t that right, Yan?” Shi Nuan caressed her belly and looked at Fu Chengyan.

Fu Chengyan narrowed his eyes and smiled. “Yes!” Then, he glanced at Fu Zhengyun. “I’m going to take May out for a walk today!”

“What is wrong with staying at home? What is she not satisfied with? I will ask someone to redo it! Don’t you know that her pregnancy is not stable yet? You should be more careful!”

Fu Chengyan’s gaze sank. “I will take good care of her.”

“How would you take good care of her? Do you have Aunt Ning’s experience? Are you better than the experienced servants at home? Aren’t you heading to the office? How will you be able to accompany her, then?” Fu Zhengyun came up with a myriad of reasons to not let Shi Nuan get out of the house. “You’re not allowed outside!”

“I said I would take good care of May.” Fu Chengyan did not take heed of his grandfather’s protests. He held Shi Nuan’s hand and took her to the dining room.

The cook was already serving their breakfast. It was a nutritious meal curated according to Shi Nuan’s condition and the doctor’s advice. Shi Nuan looked at her meal, and stole a glance at Fu Chengyan’s. She gulped as she edged close to his ears. “Your grandpa seems really mad. What do we do?”

“Are you only starting to get scared now?” Fu Chengyan chuckled softly. “It’s alright, I’m the one taking you out for a walk. Eat!”

“Okay.” Shi Nuan lowered her head and ate her food.

Fu Zhengyun was mad at his grandson ignoring his orders, even so, when he thought about how brazen his grandson had become after having a family. He has never paid much respect to me anyway.

However, it was because Fu Chengyan did not spend much time at the Fu Residence. Out of sight, out of mind. Having said that, they were now staying under the same roof. Fu Zhengyun sulked further when he thought about how his grandson was disregarding him.

He wanted to reprimand the ignorant brat. Then, he thought about how Shi Nuan could not suffer even a little now that she was pregnant, he suppressed his boiling rage.

Fu Zhengyun snorted, and then turned around to head upstairs.

The butler trailed behind Fu Zhengyun. He cast a look at Fu Zhengyun, then at Fu Chengyan and Shi Nuan, and his lips curled into a slight smile.

Maybe Old Master hasn’t even realized that he has warmed up to Shi Nuan. Judging from the way he behaves, he’s already acknowledging her.

After Fu Chengyan and Shi Nuan were done with their breakfast, the two of them headed to the office. Since Shi Nuan was pregnant, it was impossible for Fu Chengyan to let her work. Hence, he was just bringing her along to reassure himself.

Shi Nuan wanted to head straight to the Project Management Department after getting off the car. However, Fu Chengyan held her hand and took her to the twenty-seventh floor instead. Fu Chengyan was very adamant about his decision, and Shi Nuan could only play along. Afraid that he might not want to bring her out next time, she meekly followed him to the twenty-seventh floor.

Fu Chengyan was late. To everyone’s surprise, he was late for the very first time and was even more than 30 minutes late.
