Shen Qianan had a heavy heart after she came out of Shi Nuan’s room. A figure suddenly appeared in front of the former, and she looked at the man, surprised. Zhou Zheng nodded slightly and said, “Ms. Shen, Mr. Fu would like to see you.”

“Okay,” she replied with a nod. She took a glance at the ward and added. “Um… it seemed like Shi Nuan had an episode just now.” Zhou Zheng nodded. “Mr. Fu is already aware of that. Don’t worry, Ms. Shen. There’s nothing to be worried about for now.”

Shen Qianan heaved a sigh of relief after hearing that. “Please bring me to see Fu Chengyan right away, Mr. Zhou.” The truth was, Fu Chengyan had been in the ward next to Shi Nuan’s the entire time. Because he couldn’t help but worry, he had arranged for security to guard Shi Nuan’s ward while he sat next door.

Zhou Zheng pushed open the door and signaled Shen Qianan to enter. Shen Qianan saw Fu Chengyan sitting on the couch with his eyes glued to the surveillance monitor. As she walked toward him, she saw the monitor was a surveillance image of Shi Nuan’s ward.

Shi Nuan struggled to lie back down after Shen Qianan left. Fu Chengyan watched as both his hands clenched into fists. He raised his head to look at Shen Qianan and pointed to the chair opposite him. “Please, have a seat.”

Shen Qianan hesitated for a moment before she nodded and took a seat in front of him. “Were you the one who asked Shen Shixiu to bring me here? Tell me, what do you need me to do?”

Shen Qianan knew that if it wasn’t for Shi Nuan, Fu Chengyan would definitely not want to see her again, let alone be in the same room as him.

Fu Chengyan was surprised by how calm Shen Qianan was acting. He waved his hand, signaling Zhou Zheng to leave the room and watch Shi Nuan closely. Shen Qianan knew that this was one of the few actions Fu Chengyan used when he was in deep thought. She often saw him do that when they were still together. He usually only does this when being met with a tricky situation. Not to mention Shi Nuan’s pregnant now, so he should’ve already quit smoking. It must be something really difficult for him to act like this again.

Shen Qianan suddenly became stunned when she heard Fu Chengyan mention Fu Sijue. She looked at Fu Chengyan dumbfounded as she clenched her fists. “What are you implying?”

“The masked man who kidnapped you was the same man who kidnapped May. I’m sure you’re aware of this by now,” Fu Chengyan said, staring at Shen Qianan.

Shen Qianan wasn’t sure what Fu Chengyan’s motive was, but she couldn’t help but think of Jue when she heard Fu Sijue’s name. She didn’t think it was a coincidence at all. He refused to tell me his name when I was with him back then and only asked me to call him Jue.

Hence, she subconsciously thought of Jue when she heard Fu Sijue.

Shen Qianan pursed her lips without saying a word. Fu Chengyan on the other hand, was pinning his gaze on her, unwilling to miss any change of expression on her face.

“Have you heard of Fu Sijue before?”

Shen Qianan shook her head. “Nope!” she replied, looking away – her eyes afraid to meet Fu Chengyan’s.

His stern eyes fell on Shen Qianan’s body and seeing how anxious she was, Fu Chengyan was more sure than ever.

“How about J? I’m sure you know him!”

Shen Qianan couldn’t help but tighten her grip as her face fell pale. “Just tell me why I’m here, Fu Chengyan.”

He laughed and said, “I’m a businessman; I’m sure you should know me very well by now. One thing I love is to make deals with someone smart.” Seeing the confused look on Shen Qianan’s face, he stood up and put his hands in his pockets.

Standing with his back facing Shen Qianan, he looked out the window. “Fu Sijue is from the Fu clan. I’m not sure why he had to do that to May, but regardless of what happened now or him kidnapping you back then, he just wants to provoke me.”
