Surprised by Violet's reaction, Roger looked at her and asked,"Are you acquaintances?"
"Yes," Violet said,"We've met before."
"I have asked about him and tried to get in touch with him, but he's quite prudent, and I didn't even get a chance to meet him personally, let alone persuade him to invest in GR Group," Roger said. It wasn't easy to schedule a meeting with the elusive Francis.
Violet pondered for a while and said,"Roger, Do you know where he is now? I can probably go and meet him. I will try and convince him to help and invest in GR Group."
"Violet, but..." Roger was worried. Wheeling-and-dealing in the business field is common. Besides, They didn't know enough about Francis who remains a mystery. It would be risky if Violet did visit Francis unexpectedly. Roger was not willing to let her do that.
"Don't worry, Francis and I have met before. He will recognize me," Violet said with determination. Although she was not sure whether she could talk Francis into investing, it was still worth a try.
Violet's resolution touched Roger and he finally agreed. "All right then, I'll give you what we know of Francis' location. But, Violet, your safety is top priority. Call me if anything happens, okay?"
"Don't worry, I'll be fine," Violet said.
Violet walked out the GR building, with her hand holding a note containing Francis's address, her next stop for the day. It seemed that she would never get to do her grocery shopping today.
When Violet arrived at the address written on the note, she stepped into the lobby.
She approached the receptionist at the front desk and said,"Hello, I'm here for Mr. Francis An."
"Hello, have you got an appointment with him?" the receptionist grinned at her.
"No, not really. I don't," Violet admitted.
"Then I'm sorry, Mr. An will not be available to see you today," the receptionist said. Francis had instructed everyone at the front desk to turn down anyone without a scheduled appointment.
"But," Violet did not give up. "My name is Violet Chu and I'm here for an urgent and very important issue, could you please tell him?"
"Sorry, I'm afraid not." Although Violet did seem to have come with urgency, the receptionist wouldn't break the rule.
"Please! Just tell him my name. If he says no, then I'll leave immediately." Violet begged the receptionist. The GR Group was at breaking point and Roger was in trouble, so she really needed to have this meeting with Francis.
Moved by her pleading, the receptionist said,"All right then. I'll call Mr. An. Please wait here and I will let you know what he says."
"Thank you!" Violet said immediately. She was glad for the tiny ray of hope.
The receptionist got through to Francis' private line. "Sir, a lady named Violet Chu is here at the reception and wants to meet with you."
"Violet Chu?" Francis from the other end of the line repeated the name.
