Ice and Fire novel Chapter 773

"Greg," Cassie called out.

Surprised, Greg stopped and gave her a thoughtful look, 'What brings her here?' he wondered.

Without hesitation, Cassie walked up to Greg, who looked spent. "Are you tired?" she asked tenderly.

Cassie really loved Greg. Seeing how tired he was, her instincts wanted to take good care of him, nourish and offer him comfort.

But the coldness in Greg's very first question told her she'd need to be cautious. "Anything important?" he asked without any hint of kindness, making it sound as if her very presence offended him.

"I have something to tell you. It is noisy here, follow me to somewhere quiet," Cassie broached her subject with care. And then she took Greg's arms and pulled him to the the foot of the stairs.

There was nobody at the foot of the stairs. Cassie got closer to Greg inch by inch, until she was close enough for a comfortable kiss. Indeed, she badly wanted to kiss him.

But Greg knew that standing so close to her would only fan her crazy fantasies.

So instead, he pulled her away. "What the hell are you doing?" he glowered. "If there's nothing important, I shall leave," he added firmly.

And then he was ready to leave, but Cassie stopped him.

She stepped in front of him, blocking his way with ease.

"What's wrong? Is there a problem with the two of us standing together?" asked Cassie. And then she added, "Greg, you may need to rethink your obsession with that girl you call a wife. You seem to regard her as a person you can love and trust with all your heart, but I don't think she loves you back as much."

"What has happened between Violet and me has nothing to do with you. Go away from me," said Greg, trying to push his way out.

As if she had been triggered, Cassie suddenly took out her cellphone and quickly shoved it in Greg's face, displaying the photos she had taken at the restaurant.

"How does it feel, knowing that they've been spending time together?" asked Cassie, malice written all over her face.

At first, Greg hesitated, brushing Cassie off as a bitter woman, consumed with jealousy. But Cassie didn't budge and she wore a smug face, which made Greg realize that she might have a strong case.
