"The account of missing babies are now becoming alarming, your majesty."
The chief with bounty beards said. He looked at the other chiefs who were present. He hadn't done that out of his respect for them or whether or not they approved of what he was saying. He had only done that to acknowledge that he knew they were there and probably he was saying what they wouldn't.
"It started off with Iuami's baby. The cute little girl. Then to few others. When we were walked upon, none took it seriously but now that it had graduated into the teenagers. I'm sure interest would be revered now."
He quit talking and sat. One of the remaining four chiefs stood up and bowed before the king.
He looked quickly at the remaining chiefs inquisitively while two of them put their back palms to the other palms in suit.
The chief started,
"Who are you blaming it on now? Eh? Are you blaming it on the king or on the chiefs. No one knows what your stance is. You're the only who has an idea."
The Chief said and sat. He seemed to get the attestation of few others. The other chiefs nodded in affirmation except the father of Hira.
He had been like that ever since the flight of his daughter. Lude had also taken it upon himself to search for the two and had been gone since two days.
The pressing matters of the missing children was what had left him with no choice but to be present.
He didn't care whatever the fellows had to say to themselves. It didn't really pull a hair from his head.
He only had his face glued to the King. He couldn't wait for the meeting to be over.
If it hadn't been made clear that suicide was tantamount to an act of cowardice, he would had done it.
"Be specific if you have a guilty conscience. No one has ever been hung for it, but never again put words in my mouth. The heat of the matter squashing me from within formed the words in such manner. I never blamed anyone."
The bounty bearded chief defended. He looked as intensely as he could. Wearing the other chief out with an odd ogle.
"Your ways are not pure. I'm sure you have some tricks up your sleeves. But I tell you that time would test it."
The other chief said. The bounty bearded chief's eyes tuned. You could tell that he was at the verge of hurling the throne at the other chief.
The chief stood up and hurled hate instead,
"Who knows if you're the one alongside several other con chiefs like you are using the heads of the missing kids for rituals. Or probably selling them off."
"To slavery? Duffer. To slavery, like your brain has been sold?"
The other chief picked. The two were nose to nose. The remaining ones laughed except Hira's father. What could ever be funny to him again?
