Chapter 467
For the past two months, Zavier had been turning every stone in his quest for Skyler. But it was like she vanished off the face of the earth
With each passing day, the fear of losing Skyler forever was eating him alive. He couldn’t eat or sleep. And even when he did, he was haunted by dreams of her. She was always there, looking at him with those accusing eyes, as if he had committed an unforgivable sin
He banged on Marcus door time and time again, begging for Skyler’s whereabouts. He swore he wouldn’t bother her, and just wanted to see her from a distance. But Marcus wouldn’t spill the beans
Zavier knew the key to his dilemma was Comelia. So, he had her watched, waiting for a moment when she was unprotected. Once that happened, he planned to snatch her and force Marcus‘ hand
Last night, he thought his moment had come. Just when he was about to trade Cornelia for Skyler, Marcus and his crew showed up. Marcus had a look in his eyes that gave Zavier the creeps, like the Grim Reaper himself
“Zavier, touch a hair on Cornelia’s head, and you’ll wish you were never born.” Marcus threatened.
“Marcus, what’s eating you?” Zavier casually lit a cigarette, taking a couple of drags. “You don’t even love Cornelia. If she disappears, you could simply replace her.”
But Marcus was having none of it. He stomped over, snatched the cigarette out of Zavier’s hand, and crushed it under his boot, “Cornelia is my wife, Zavier. I have sworn to protect her with my life If anyone dares to harm her, I’ll make sure they’ll pay dearly”
“Oh, wife?‘ Zavier lit another cigarette, jabbing it towards Marcus’s face, ‘You know to protect your wife. What about when you hid my wife? Ever think about how I’d feel?”
As he watched the burning cigarette butt being jabbed towards his face, Marcus didn’t flinch nor blink, ‘Zavier, if Skyler didn’t want to leave you. If she still loved you, do you think I could have hidden her?”
She wanted to leave him! She didn’t love him!
Those words cut through Zavier like a knife.
He stumbled back, dropping his cigarette. He was left leaning against the wall for support. After a moment, he roared in anger, “I treated her like a queen, how could she drop me like a hot potato?!”
“How should I know?” Marcus shrugged. He had enough on his plate trying to make sense of his own feelings, let alone Zavier and Skyler’s.
Zavier laughed again, “You’re no better than me. Your wife is with you every day, but all you can do is watch. You can’t even hold her.”
“Leave Marcus adjusted his glasses and his previous hostility seemed to have evaporated
Taking two step ahead, Zavier grabbed Marcus” arm, “Marcus, just tell me where Skyler is. I just want to see her. I promise I won’t disturb her life.”
*Unless Skyler wants to see you, I won’t tell you where she is.” Marcus signaled to Ayden, who emerged from the shadows, “Mr. Rivera, President Hartley needs his rest. Please leave.”
