Comelia frowned, clearly pissed off, “The incident from that day only you know it best. He didn’t do anything, no one should speak ill of him.” 

That Cornelia would defend him didn’t surprise Marcus one bit. 

What did surprise him was something else Comelia had witnessed “Marcus” betraying her with her own eyes, but after hearing his explanation, she quickly chose to believe him, and regardless of what anyone else said, she didn’t doubt him anymore.
