After Zack left, Marcus took Comelia to a side lounge, fetched her a glass of water and said, “Have a sip first, I gotta talk to you.” 

Comelia took the water, took a sip, and asked, “What’s up?” 

Marcus‘ deep voice came out from his thin lips, “I’m sorry!” 

Comelia asked, “Why are you apologizing?” 

Marcus said, “Do you know the real reason your granny passed out this time?” 

Cornelia didn’t know, but his words gave her a bad feeling. She became so nervous that she almost dropped the paper cup in her hand, “Granny will be fine. Don’t scare me…” 

Marcus reassured her, “Granny will be fine, but what I want to tell you is something else.” He paused for a moment, then continued, “Cornelia, the person I arranged to be by Granny’s side messed up. That guy poisoned her food, causing her chronic poisoning. Today, she fell into a coma because of the shock, and the toxins rapidly took effect.” 

Hearing this, Cornelia felt incredulous, but after some thought, she caught on. 

Marcus had many enemies, and there were a lot who wanted to kill him. Since they couldn’t make a move on him directly, they chose to hit those close to him, so Granny became their easiest target. 

She asked, “What kind of poison was it? What kind of damage can this poison do to her body?” 

All she cared about was the type of poison and its impact on Granny’s health, but she didn’t ask who had administered the poison. 

Marcus couldn’t help but wonder if she had guessed who had poisoned Granny. “Don’t you want to know who poisoned her?” 

Who poisoned her didn’t matter. Because whoever it was, they must’ve been caught by Marcus. But Cornelia still played along with his question, “Who was it?” 

Marcus said, “I’ve found out who poisoned her. He’s just a pawn following others‘ orders, and there’s someone else pulling the strings.” 

Cornelia asked, “Who’s the puppet master?” 

After a few seconds of silence, Marcus finally spat out the name he loathed, “Brennen!” 

Upon hearing this name, Cornelia was shocked, and she looked at him with moist eyes.
