Xander quickly stood up, ignoring how tired he felt, and entered the ninth mine with determination.

God helped those who helped themselves.

Finally, at 3:00 am, Xander found Grace in the last mine.

Grace had been dehydrated and had lacked oxygen for over ten hours. She was already in critical condition.

Xander carried her on his back. Climbing the stairs one at a time, he took Grace out of the mine.
