In Your Time novel Chapter 33

Ten minutes later, Elizabeth was coming into the principal's office looking worried. She came straight to me and looked me over simile to how Braden did. She lifted my shirt and checked my back and stomach quickly.

"What happened? Did you crack a rib again? Are you hurt? Where does it hurt? I'll call George. No, he's at work. I'll take you to the hospital," she fussed over me.

"Mom, I'm fine. I was just having a hard time breathing for a moment," I explained quickly.

"She really did crack a rib?" Mrs. Meyers asked Elizabeth. Elizabeth's attention turned to our principal as her face hardened slightly.

"Of course she did! You think my kids would make up something that serious? She was hospitalized because of it," Elizabeth explained.

"I'm sorry for doubting them, but in my defense, I found them in a popular make out corner with Phoenix's shirt up," Mrs. Meyers defended herself.

"Because that's where her ribs are located. I understand you run a school full of horny teenagers, but Phoenix lives with us. If they wanted to do something that promiscuous, they could do it at home. It's not like they have to hide. They actually have my full support. I hope they're secretly making out in their room," Elizabeth ranted.

"Mom!" Braden protested. Elizabeth rolled her eyes before turning to Braden.

"I know you do. I've just been pretending like I didn't know because I knew you would get defensive," Elizabeth explained quickly. I did giggle at that.

"Well.. if Phoenix really isn't feeling well. You can take her home for today," Mrs. Meyers said flustered. We walked out of the school in silence. When we got to the parking lot, Braden finally broke the silence.

"How did you know?" He finally asked.

"It's been written all over your face for a while now, kid. You like Phoenix, and I fully support you guys. Just... use protection," she smirked at him as we reached her car.

"Mom!"

"I still have some errands to run. I trust you'll take Phoenix back safely and take care of her. Bye bye," Elizabeth smiled innocently before leaving. Braden sighed as he scratched the back of his head awkwardly. I, however, couldn't keep the giant, amused smile off of my face. I was the first to grab Braden's hand this time.

"Alright, don't think too much about it. Take me home," I said before dragging him to his car. He drove us home before following me into my room.

"You don't seem shocked that she found us out," he noted after a while. I shrugged.

"She told me she knew in Palm Springs. She said she was pretending because you tried so hard to pretend like you didn't care and she didn't want to embarrass you," I admitted. He sat on my bed before pulling me into his lap.

"There's something else I want to know. Just how much time you actually spent with that Torin guy over the weekend? You two act like childhood friends," he pouted. It finally clicked in my head as I smirked and wrapped my arms around Braden's neck.
