Flavian’s POV

I managed to get rid of Sabrina, but I was still restless. After thinking it through, I decided to go to Bellwood to talk to my father and clear up this story about Sabrina suddenly reappearing. I would go on Sunday, just a quick trip. I would go to Bellwood, talk to my parents, and rush back to my little one. It was necessary to face the beasts.

But I did not want my little one to know, I did not want to burden her with all this. So I told her I was on call. I hated lying to her, but if I told her about Sabrina and that I was still married, my little one would surely leave me. With all her convictions, it would be hard to convince her that I had no idea Sabrina had managed to nullify the divorce decree and that I would get rid of her

anyway.

When I arrived in Bellwood, my brother was waiting for me, as we had arranged.

“Raul, brother, thanks for picking me up. How are you?” I hugged my brother, who hugged me back.

“Man, being the spoiled child who doesn’t meet parents‘ expectations sucks!” Raul said. “I’ve fallen into the common pit with you and Lexie, I’m the insensitive one who doesn’t understand that parents know what’s best for their children and, according to them, I should have a child to understand how they feel. And all this just because Paula and I don’t want children right now. Life was easier when I was the exemplary son.”

Raul was indignant, and I couldn’t help but laugh at him. Lexie and I grew up hearing we should follow Raul’s example, that he was a good son and understood that our parents only did what was best for him. It was annoying, constantly hearing Raul this, Raul that, he was a good son, he was a wonderful son. Well, he was perfect, until now.

“I never thought I would live to see this day, the day Raul stopped being the wonderful son.” I laughed at my brother, who shook

his head.

“Come on, let’s go to my house first, Paula wants to see you, and she’s not going to our parents‘ house anymore. Besides, I want to tell you some things.”

“Is the situation so bad that the perfect daughter–in–law doesn’t visit her in–laws anymore?” I asked with a hint of sarcasm.

“Man, it’s getting worse quickly,” my brother lamented.

On the way to his house, my brother told me that our parents were pressuring him to have children and that our mother had an argument with Paula because she wanted my brother’s wife to stop working to become a proper wife, in her words. When we arrived, my sister was also at my brother’s house.

“This welcoming committee doesn’t smell right,” I said to my brother.

“You don’t know the half of it…” My brother replied before my sister and Paula hugged me.

“Flavian, how many bedrooms does your apartment have?” was the first thing Paula wanted to know.

“Three, why?” I asked, laughing.

“Because you’re our escape plan. If we have to run away from your parents, we’re going to your place,” she replied, laughing. “Who would have thought, Paula, that you would become the Morenos‘ disappointment!” I laughed at her look of displeasure. “Your parents are obsessive and controlling, it’s unbearable! Raul is already thirty–eight, don’t they understand?” Paula w really upset about the situation.

“No, Paula, they don’t understand. They’re used to having everything their way. And having their wishes neglected by their own children doesn’t make them happy.” And that was exactly it, they didn’t know how to handle frustration.

After Paula told me about all the drama with my parents looking for grandchildren and a wife who would not meddle in business, it was my sister’s turn to complain about the arranged marriage.

“Is it really that far along, Lexie?” I asked, not believing my parents would force her to marry.

“That idiot William is always at our house now. Our mother made sure to spread all over town that we are dating and about to get engaged. And it seems I’m the only one who does not think I am dating that fool.” Lexie sniffled, she was almost crying

“Now for the best part,” Raul said with a mocking smile. “The most rebellious Moreno son. I know what dad is up to.”

“Yeah, me too. Sabrina has already contacted me,” I replied and watched their eyes grow wide on the faces.

“So he is moving fast. He went after her in London and brought her back. But what I do not understand is what he intends to do, after all this time since your divorce…” Raul did not know everything, and it was my turn to update him.

After telling them everything that happened and they nearly died laughing at the lice story, my brother finally asked what he really wanted to know.

“And your girlfriend, how did she react to this? Because your father is furious about you living with this girl. And I will tell you right now that he got the information through a private investigator.”

“Man, he has no limits. I thought it was weird how Sabrina knew so much about my life,” I lamented. “But Manu does not know about any of this mess yet. She does not even know I was married before.”
