"Get lost before I lose my temper. And stop embarrassing your father," Chloe retorted, her demeanor cold as ice.
Ophelia chuckled tauntingly, "You're so naive. I'm the delicate flower your father has pampered for over twenty years. Do you really think he'll take your side? That’s never going to happen."
Chloe's jaw tightened as she picked up the wine glass from the table and splashed its contents on Ophelia.
Ophelia froze for a moment, her eyes narrowing with anger as she looked down at her expensive dress now stained with wine. "How dare you splash wine on me!"
Were commoners not supposed to be subservient and obedient? How was this woman so audacious? Does her father secretly support her from behind?
"What else am I supposed to do? Tolerate you?" Chloe's voice remained composed. She stood tall, exuding an unwavering aura. "Is it standard practice for royals to cause trouble at other’s engagement banquet?”
Ophelia felt her throat tightening, unable to refute yet unwilling to back down. "Your mother was the one who was a mistress. Why are you blaming me?"
She knew full well that an engagement banquet only happened once in a lifetime. Under normal circumstances, she should not ruin it with ill intentions. But the person in question was Chloe, the daughter of a mistress!
"I'm two years older than you, correct? When your father met my mother, you weren’t even born yet. Maybe your mother was the mistress.”
"You're spouting nonsense! My mother is a dignified princess! She’d never do such a thing!"
Chloe retorted in an equally aggressive manner, deliberately choosing unpleasant words, "These are the facts, and it doesn't matter what you say. In terms of seniority, you still have to acknowledge me as your big sister."
Ophelia's taunting came to an abrupt halt as she broke down, bursting into tears. The realization that Chloe was her elder sister was humiliating. She found herself unable to continue the argument as it became clear that Chloe had a more justified stance.
Callum and Kenneth rushed over to Ophelia's side when they heard the commotion. Upon seeing the red wine stains on Ophelia's dress, Callum's expression fell, but he did not say anything.
However, Kenneth exploded with anger "What's going on?! Did you bully my sister, Chloe?! You crazy woman! If you have issues, go see a doctor. Don't take it out on Leah. You're not worthy!"
