Xavia gritted her teeth when she gained no response from Chloe. She said, "Did you see the news? Joe got into a car accident and is probably dead."
A tinge of pain flashed across Chloe's eyes. She stared at Xavia coldly. "What are you trying to say? Spill it and stop beating around the bush."
"Nothing. I’m just feeling lucky that neither of us is married to Joe."
"You failed to gain his hand."
Xavia's face turned livid. "I'm just lamenting. You don't have to be so harsh."
"What for? Are you lamenting that you aren’t a widow?"
"No one wants to be a widow."
Xavia loved Joseph. No man could compare to him in terms of power, looks, and aura. His only shortcoming was his bad taste. He liked Chloe instead of her. If Joseph had agreed to be with her, he would have a happy family of three.
Duskfall would not have acted so quickly.
She felt like she had the means to decide one's life and death if she was with them. She stood upright from the realization.
"There are more willing women than you think. Joseph is wealthier than the royal family. Last year, Fairlight invested tens of billions of dollars in the royal family projects."
Chloe wanted to ignore Xavia, but since the latter insisted on infuriating her, Chloe decided to bare her fangs and vent her anger on the woman.
Xavia smiled calmly. “No matter how rich he is, it’s useless since he can't enjoy it. You're marrying Noah, and I’m marrying Kenneth. Life is pretty good. We shouldn’t be so stubborn. It's right to let nature take its course."
After all, Duskfall would seize all of Joseph's property after he died. It was useless even if he was rich.
Chloe was unmoved as she looked at Xavia's belly. "Do you really think Kenneth will marry you?"
