Lenny frowned slightly. He was dissatisfied with Rosaline's humble behavior. "Since it's a misunderstanding, it's not a big deal. You've already cleared it up, so no need for apologies," he said.
Hearing this, Rosaline breathed a sigh of relief. She was afraid that what happened between her and Scarlet recently would leave a bad impression on Lenny, although he had never mentioned it.
She knew on that day, Scarlet had looked for Lenny, and in order to prove her innocence, Scarlet reenacted their struggle and hurt herself in the process.
Rosaline thought that she had to do something to redeem her image. She had been waiting for a good opportunity. Now that she had cleared the air between her and Scarlet, she could be sure that Lenny wouldn't think of her as a scheming woman.
Moreover, she was also able to make it clear that she was the one that Lenny chose. She hoped that his ex-wife would be sensible and not interfere in their life anymore.
Rosaline then smiled at Scarlet.
"Lenny is right. You have nothing to be sorry for," Scarlet said, pursing her lips. "Excuse me. I have something I need to attend to. I'm leaving now."
Then, she turned around and left without looking back.
She took a deep, steadying breath and held her prenatal checkup report to her chest.
Her child was all she wanted now. As for Lenny and Rosaline's relationship, it had nothing to do with her.
As Scarlet walked away, she heard Lenny and Rosaline talking behind her.
"What do you think we'll have, Lenny, a boy or a girl?" "It doesn't matter as long as it's our child."
"Then... I will spend my life being a mother to your children."
"Sounds like a plan."
After leaving the hospital and returning to her rental apartment, Scarlet didn't slack off at all.
The doctor said that the fetus was fine and that she had passed the first three months of her pregnancy. She wasn't that delicate and frail.
So she decided to take on a part-time job on her spare time. She had to make plans for the future now that the Brown family had taken everything from her.
Fortunately, she was capable enough to land a job at a clothing design studio.
Because she was a newcomer, most of her work was to make coffee, run errands, and send parcels and clothes.
But whenever she had some extra time, she would try her best to learn something from her seniors at work.
"Scarlet, Mrs. Santos needs this dress right now. She has a party to attend at two o'clock this afternoon. Go bring this to her. Here's the address of the restaurant where she's having lunch right now. Hurry up."
Scarlet just sat down for her lunch break. The moment she opened her lunch box, Dina Hanson, her mentor, patted her on the shoulder and gave her an urgent task.
Scarlet nodded and put away her lunch. She hurriedly took the dress and rushed to the restaurant.
When she arrived, she was sweating and panting.
Carey Santos had already finished her lunch and had been waiting a few minutes for Scarlet. When Scarlet showed up with her dress, Carey glared at her and scolded her. "What took you so long? Don't you know I have a party at two o'clock?"
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Santos. I came here as fast as I could."
Scarlet put the box in front of Carey. The dress was wrinkle-proof, so it could be folded.
Carey opened the box, and then she knitted her brows.
"Where's the silk scarf?"
"Silk scarf?" Upon hearing this, Scarlet was stunned.
"Is this how you treat a client? I bought a silk scarf along with this dress. How could you forget to include it in the box?"
"Dina didn't tell me..."
"I don't care. It's your responsibility!" Carey snapped and pounded her fist on the table.
"I'm sorry. Let me go back to the studio and get the scarf for you."
"Didn't you hear me earlier? I have a party at two o'clock. You'll never make it back here in time. What's wrong with you? What is this, your first day?"
Carey pointed rudely at Scarlet and threw a fit.
Scarlet felt wronged, but she kept silent. It was inappropriate to argue with Carey now.
At this moment, a voice came from behind.
"What do you think of this restaurant, Mr. Foster? The food here should suit your preferences."
Mr. Foster?
In Wellholt, only a few people had the surname Foster.
Scarlet couldn't help turning and looking over. Her heart fluttered when she saw a man's tall figure.
Here she was in such a mess. And Lenny was over there, looking radiant and dashing.
