When Scarlet arrived at the studio, she found Dina being handcuffed by the police. Carey was also present.
Dina lowered her head in shame. Carey got her scarf back.
The police had checked the surveillance video from the underground garage. The evidence was undeniable. Motivated by her vanity, Dina stole the silk scarf and wore it to her class reunion, but it was damaged and couldn't be delivered to the client on time.
Scarlet was a newcomer and was still an intern, so Dina decided to pin the blame on her.
"Now the truth is out. You've stolen an item that's worth about twenty thousand dollars. You've committed a crime," one of the policemen declared.
Carey looked at Scarlet with embarrassment and said, "Miss Brown, I'm really sorry. I treated you badly in the restaurant because of this matter. I sincerely apologize. I hope you can forgive me."
After saying that, Carey bowed to Scarlet in front of everyone.
Everyone was shocked.
Carey had always been arrogant and looked down upon people like them, but today, she showed a sincere attitude.
Scarlet was flattered. "It's all right, Mrs. Santos. I'm glad the misunderstanding has been cleared up."
Scarlet's colleagues approached her. Suddenly, they were being nice to her. One of them even held Scarlet's hand, cursed Dina, and tried to convince Scarlet to come back and work for the studio.
But when Scarlet thought of what they had done that day, she couldn't help feeling a little disappointed.
They had changed their attitude toward her so fast. Was this the studio's company culture? The employees schemed against one another, kissed up to those in power, and trampled on those at the bottom.
Even though she needed a job now, Scarlet refused to come back. She followed the police downstairs and said gratefully, "Thank you, sir. I couldn't have proven my innocence if it weren't for you. But no one from the studio called you when the incident happened. How did you know to come here and conduct an investigation?"
"Someone sent the surveillance footage to us anonymously, so we made a move. Maybe it was one of your former colleagues who couldn't stand the others' outrageous behavior."
Scarlet nodded. She supposed not everyone would collude with Dina.
When the truth came to light, Scarlet breathed a sigh of relief and felt much better.
During the next few days, she searched for a new part-time job. One of her design professors happened to open a studio in the city, and the senior students were actively signing up. Scarlet also tried her luck, and she didn't expect that she would succeed.
At her new job, all her colleagues were her schoolmates. They helped one another, and nobody tried to sabotage anyone.
Although the job didn't pay much, Scarlet was happy doing it.
Her professor was a famous fashion designer in the circle, and it took the school a lot of money just to hire him.
As soon as the studio was established, they received a lot of design orders for high-end clothes. Naturally, the students couldn't do the designing just yet, so their job was to assist the senior designers.
Soon, they got extremely busy. A big order from a renowned company came in. The company needed customized clothes for their employees.
Both the men's and the women's suits were made of the best materials. The company wanted the design to include their enterprise's culture, so the price of one set of clothes was quite high.
Today, they were going to take the measurements of the staff. "The... The Foster Group?" Scarlet was stunned.
"Yes. Is there a problem?" Evie Turner, her senior, asked.
Scarlet immediately shook her head.
No wonder the boss was so generous. It turned out that the order came from the Foster Group.
The team that was going to take the measurements was short-staffed, so they took Scarlet with them.
Scarlet was assigned to take the measurements of some ordinary employees, so she thought that there was no way she would bump into Lenny.
She quickly completed the task and recorded everyone's measurements.
At this time, she received a call from Evie.
"Hey, Scarlet. Come to the CEO's office, please. We need some help here."
"What? CEO's office?" Scarlet stammered.
"We need to take Mr. Foster's assistant's measurements. His suit is specially customized. Our professor will design it himself. The CEO's assistant's suit is very different from those of the other employees. You must take his measurements carefully, okay? I have to head back to school. There's a problem with my thesis."
Evie was a graduate student now and was working hard on her thesis every day. When she got a call from school regarding her thesis, she had to attend to it right away. Otherwise, it would affect her graduation.
"What about the others?" Scarlet hesitated.
Evie grunted in dissatisfaction. She didn't expect that Scarlet would refuse such a small request.
"Are you going to come here or not? Everyone else is busy. You're the only one with the lightest task and that has finished fast."
Scarlet knew she couldn't get out of it anymore. Anyway, she just needed to take Drake's measurements. Maybe Lenny wouldn't be there, and she wouldn't see him.
