Lenny and Scarlett novel Chapter 31

After Rosaline left Scarlet's room, she went to the study to see Lenny.

She had the right to go in there, but she couldn't stay too long because that was where Lenny did his work when he was at home.

"What are you doing here?" Lenny asked.

"I miss you," Rosaline replied.

She was like a lost and spooked deer, constantly taking every opportunity to throw herself into Lenny's arms. She always tried to lock him in a tight embrace, as if she was afraid that he would run away.

"Aren't you afraid of hurting the baby?"

"It was the baby who asked me to hold you," Rosaline mumbled. She looked up at him, and he saw her red eyes and wet eyelashes.

Seeing this, Lenny immediately wiped her tears and asked, "What's wrong?"

"I'm afraid... After all, you and Miss Brown were a couple for a year." Rosaline spoke frankly about her concerns. She knew how to pretend to be pitiful and stir a man's sympathy. All she needed to do was to air her side with the perfect mix of coquetry, despair, and willfulness. What was more, Lenny had never been with enough women to know about the tricks women used to manipulate men. This trick worked every time.

Rosaline's straightforward words made Lenny feel better.

"Scarlet and I are never getting back together."

"But I'm still worried. Your grandmother and your mother only recognize her as your wife, and I'm just a girl from nowhere. Your family still hasn't accepted me, but I understand and am willing to wait. Sooner or later, they will be moved by my sincerity and my love for you. But... I can't help being concerned about you and Miss Brown.

I really don't want to tell you what to do, but I will really appreciate it if you keep your distance from other women, including Scarlet."

"Okay. Consider it done," Lenny answered without hesitation. Loyalty was the most basic requirement for a relationship to work out.

He was never an unfaithful man. And he would give Rosaline everything he had promised her.

"Lenny..."

Rosaline reached out to Lenny's shirt and began undoing his buttons.

She twisted her body in a way that would enchant him, but before she could undo the topmost button of his shirt, he grabbed her hand and said, "I still have work to do."

"Lenny..." Rosaline purred.

"Although you have already passed the first three months of your pregnancy, the condition of the fetus is still unstable because of your previously taken psych medications. You must pay attention to your health just like the doctor ordered. Be good, go to bed, and get plenty of rest. Don't wait up for me. I don't know when I will be done with my work."

Rosaline felt a little helpless. She had been living with Lenny for quite some time now, but she had never been intimate with him. She only hugged him occasionally.

He had never kissed her or even held her hand.

What was more, Lenny went stiff and awkward every time she embraced him. She had hurled herself at him many times, but it seemed like he still hadn't learned how to hug her back.

Because of this, she doubted whether Lenny had sexual desires.

Her sister Vivian said that Lenny was drugged that night.

Could it be that this man was impotent?

Was it possible that he could only get an erection with pharmaceutical help? Did he suffer from impotence at ordinary times?

The more Rosaline thought about it, the more she felt that it was possible. After all, she wasn't the woman that had sex with him that night, so she didn't know whether or not Lenny was impotent.

It seemed that she had to figure out a way to have sex with Lenny. And she had to find an opportunity to get rid of the baby in her belly.

But how would she do that?

When she left Lenny's study, she cast a glance at the guest bedroom. Scarlet was in there, waiting out the storm. She was a good choice for a scapegoat.

Thinking of this, Rosaline couldn't help smiling. Her complacent smile flashed across her shrewd eyes.

Thunder clapped so loudly outside that it felt like it was rattling the foundations of the villa. Lightning flashed, brightening the room briefly before plunging it back into darkness, which frightened Scarlet.

At nights like this, Scarlet found it difficult to fall asleep. When she was still Mrs. Foster and lived in the villa, she used to ask one of the servants to accompany her during dark, stormy nights. But she wasn't Lenny's wife anymore.

She couldn't ask one of the house staff to keep her company as the storm raged on outside. Every difficulty she had now, she would have to face herself. She couldn't rely on other people anymore.

Before she joined the Foster family, she used to hug her knees and endure such frightening nights by herself.

She curled into a ball and let her old life flash before her eyes. She couldn't help shivering more and more as the images hurtled with heartbreaking clarity.
