Lenny and Scarlett novel Chapter 8

The anesthetic gradually wore off, and Scarlet regained some of her strength. She kicked the doctor with all her might, quickly put on her clothes, and ran.

Kyra and Colleen were sitting outside when they saw Scarlet bust out of the operating room.

"Damn it! Get that bitch!"

Not daring to look back, Scarlet ran and ran with her hands over her belly.

"My baby, I will protect you and won't let anyone hurt you."

Scarlet dashed down the stairs and hurried toward the exit. Suddenly, someone stood in her way. It was too late for her to slow down, so she bumped into that person.

Seeing a woman rushing down the stairs and heading toward him, Lenny instinctively wrapped his arms around her when she ran into him.

He frowned when he saw her face.

"Scarlet?"

"Lenny!" Scarlet exclaimed and grabbed onto her ex-husband's clothes. She felt like she had stumbled upon a lifeline a few seconds away from drowning in the open sea. "Help me! Please help me!"

Hearing that, Lenny arched his brows. Then, he saw Kyra and Colleen. They looked winded, as if they had been chasing after someone.

Rosaline had to see a psychiatrist. In this hospital, there was only one doctor who was a top expert in the field. But the doctor was proud and refused to go to Lenny's villa, so Lenny had no choice but to come and see the doctor in person.

Unexpectedly, he ran into Scarlet.

He knew a little about Scarlet's family. Nolan, her father, was conniving and ungrateful, and he stole the fortune of Scarlet's mother's family. Scarlet was raised by her mother, and since her parents got divorced, she'd had nothing to do with the Browns.

When Kyra saw Lenny, she smiled awkwardly. "Mr. Foster, she divorced you and became homeless, so we took her in. She had a heatstroke today and wasn't feeling well, so we took her here for a check-up. But we didn't expect that she would make a scene because she didn't want the doctor to take a look at her."

Of course, they didn't dare to tell Lenny that Scarlet was pregnant. They were afraid that Lenny would get angry and take back the divorce compensation.

"They're lying! Don't trust them! They're trying to kill me!" Scarlet begged frantically, tears welling up in her eyes.

When their eyes met, Lenny felt his heart soften.

He put Scarlet behind him and stood protectively in front of her. "As far as I know, she has nothing to do with you guys."

"Yes, yes, but she is still a daughter of the Brown family."

"How could you say that she was still a daughter of the Brown family when you had done nothing but neglect her? We may be divorced already, but that doesn't change the fact that she was Mrs. Foster. If she needs me, I'm there, do you understand?"

"Yes. Yes, Mr. Foster."

Kyra exchanged glances with Colleen. They had thought that Lenny and Scarlet had no feelings for each other. To their surprise, Lenny would still protect Scarlet even after the divorce.

Scarlet was also a little surprised. She bit her lip and said, "They... They took away the divorce compensation you gave me. It was all the money I had."

"What nonsense are you talking about, Scarlet?" Colleen snapped, getting anxious.

"What?"

Lenny knitted his brows. He darted his eyes to Scarlet's stepmother and half-sister, an icy aura emanating from him.

Standing close to her ex-husband, Scarlet felt overwhelmed by the stone-cold vibe Lenny gave off. She was grateful that his fury wasn't directed toward her, but Kyra and Colleen who had just tried to kill her unborn child.

"Well... She... She gave it to us voluntarily..." Kyra stammered, miserably failing to hide her guilt.

"That's a lie! You forced me to sign the contract!" Scarlet cried.

"Drake, deal with them. Anyone who dares to steal what belongs to my ex-wife gets chopped into pieces."

Lenny's last sentence made Kyra and Colleen tremble with fear.

Colleen was terrified out of her wits, but Kyra was smart enough. She quickly gathered herself and smiled apologetically. "How... How could we do such a thing? It's Scarlet's. How can we take it away? She is too sensitive. We just asked her a few questions, and she became very nervous. Don't worry, Scarlet. Your divorce compensation is all yours. No one will take it away from you. We... We have something else to do. We are leaving now."

After that, they fled as fast as they could. They might tear up the contract when they got home.

When Scarlet saw them leave, her nerves finally subsided, and she was able to relax. After a few moments, she felt faint, and her knees buckled. She started falling.

Seeing this, Lenny caught her and held her in his arms.
