Chapter 684 A Trap
Four months had passed, and the world had gradually settled back into its natural rhythm. The catastrophe had been averted, and peace now stretched across the realms, restoring balance to the universe.
I remained in the Lunar Realm with Zander and Austin, embracing the destiny that had been chosen for me. Austin had now remembered everything as the spell was broken and he now thrived under the love and attention he received as the prince of the Lunar Realm. The people had accepted Zander as my mate and husband, granting him the same respect they showed me.
Despite his responsibilities as Alpha King, Zander traveled between his pack and the Lunar Realm daily. I had voiced my concerns, telling him it was risky to shift between realms so frequently, but he had only smiled and said, "For me, it's just like commuting to work."
I couldn’t deny how much I cherished his presence, so I let him make the choice.
On days when he had to stay in his pack longer, I accompanied him, ensuring that our time together wasn’t compromised. Even then, I remained vigilant over the Lunar Realm, thanks to the new technology I had developed—a system that allowed me to monitor and communicate across realms in real time.
One evening, as we sat in our chambers, Zander pulled me closer, resting his palm over my growing belly. "You should rest more, Selena. You're carrying our child and ruling an entire realm. That's a lot for one person."
I chuckled, brushing my fingers over his. "And you're running a pack while making daily trips here. That's just as exhausting."
He smirked. "Fair point. But you’re the one growing a little life inside you. That trumps everything."
I leaned my head against his shoulder, exhaling deeply. "It’s all worth it, though. We’ve come so far, and despite everything, we’re together. That’s all that matters."
Zander kissed the top of my head. "Always, my mate."
As I closed my eyes, I felt the steady rhythm of his heart against mine. But when the silence stretched longer than usual, I sensed his unease through our mate bond, which had only grown stronger with time.
“What’s wrong, Zander?” I asked, pulling away from his shoulder and tilting my head to meet his eyes.
He sighed, knowing he couldn’t hide the truth from me. “The Dark Alpha,” he said, his jaw clenching.
Oh. How could I have forgotten?
“He’s been silent for too long,” Zander continued, his voice laced with unease. “A demon like him thrives on destruction and death. If there’s been no sign of his presence, it only means he’s gathering strength in the shadows. And that worries me.”
“Don’t overthink it,” I murmured, brushing the tip of my nose against his before pressing a soft kiss to his lips. “Maybe he’s afraid of facing us, knowing that together, we are far more powerful than him.” I smiled, trying to ease his concern.
Zander sucked in a breath, his eyes darkening—worry giving way to something far more primal as I found lust and need swirling in his bright blue eyes.
“You think so?” His voice turned mischievous.
