Chapter 146 Congratulations, Mr Harris
No one could understand Nathael’s uneasiness at the moment. If she knew, he might receive bizarre. replies, such as her merciless sarcasm and mocking-
However, despite all that, he just couldn’t resist giving it a shot.
Every time he was around her, he found himself losing control of his feelings.
Maggie was caught off guard for a moment, feeling a little dizzy.
She turned to look at him, trying to make sure of his sincerity.
Under the bright moonlight, the man’s gorgeous face appeared cold and clean, with detached brows that were less vicious and deep. He looked more gentle and focused.
Maggie’s throat tightened as she looked at him and asked, “If I say no, will you still like me?”
“Yes,” Nathael replied slowly, appearing to care but not excessively concerned with her response.
Maggie smirked softly and responded, “That depends on how much you like me.”
In her past life, she poured her heart and soul into everything, only to end up in ruins.
She was severely disfigured, blinded, and haunted by bitterness and darkness, enduring endless pain and feeling utterly helpless.
Even though Maggie never doubted that Nathael was the only one for her, she wasn’t sure if she could open her heart again.
Yet, during those bleak and hopeless years, when her life was devoured by anger and resentment, resulting in a senseless and tragic outcome, every moment reminded her of her previous mistakes and misjudgments.
Even though she knew Nathael wouldn’t let her down, sometimes she found herself unconsciously wanting to hold back… subconsciously cautious, afraid of being too vulnerable once more, secretly afraid of repeating her past mistakes.
But I had changed in this life.
And how about Nathael?
Would he change? Would he love and protect me unconditionally, as he did in my previous life?

Nathael held her tighter and said in a deep voice, “At least my money is a part of me.”
Maggie chuckled softly, feeling his cheek against her car.
Their skin touched. Amidst the cool night breeze, warmth surrounded Maggie, leaving her a little dizzy. She rarely had such an intimate moment like this with him.
She lowered her gaze gently, not wanting to deny that this feeling made her greedy.
“But I won’t make it easy for you,” Nathael said softly, his voice rough.
Maggie looked up, asking softly, “Why not?”
“Because that way, you’re willing to put more effort into me,” Nathael explained slowly, his Adam’s apple twitching.
Maggie was momentarily taken aback, unable to forget the memories of their first meetings. Every time she approached him, it was never straightforward.
He wouldn’t easily agree to her requests, always saying no but leaving a glimmer of hope.
Unable to resist, she turned to face him.
Under the brilliant lights in a foreign city, she saw the man’s stunning features–sharp eyebrows and starry eyes, with deep phoenix eyes, high nose bridge, and thin lips–as well as the passionate and ferocious look between his brows, which usually gave off an aura of aloofness.
Yet strangely, when their eyes met, it made her feel like she was the centre of the universe.
