Chapter 154 A Special Case
A few minutes later, Beth ended the call and returned to the side of the two. She looked embarrassed as she said, Tm sorry, thy friend suddenly had something come up and can’t join us. I’m wondering if I could join your table?”
Nathael was dumbfounded.
Maggie’s lips curled up, a hint of laughter sparkling in her eyes.
On the other hand, Nathael looked cold, clearly not pleased that his meal with Maggie had been interrupted.
As he was about to refuse, Maggie said, ‘Sure, it’s rare to encounter you, Ms. Bray. It’s fate.”
Seeing this, Nathacl didn’t say anything more and let her have her way.
She was never one to be bullied easily.
Beth was stunned for a few seconds, clearly not expecting Maggie to be the first one to agree.
However, she didn’t believe that Maggie had any good intentions.
Of course, Maggie indeed had no good intentions.
At the table, originally spacious enough for four people, Maggie and Nathael sat facing each other on opposite sides. As soon as Beth received permission, she naturally sat down beside Nathael.
Nathael furrowed his brow and spoke coldly, “Go over there.”
His outright refusal without courtesy made Beth’s cheeks stiffen, forcing her to stand up.
However, looking at Maggie in front of her, she didn’t want to sit beside this woman, so she called the waiter to add an extra chair to the side of the table.
Maggie couldn’t help but sigh. Beth was indeed persistent.
Nathael was giving no face at all. If it were her, she would have left in anger long ago.
Glancing at the dishes on the table, Beth spoke somewhat overbearingly, “The Scottish smoked salmon and the red wine braised beef in this restaurant are both very good. Ms. Adam, would you like to try them?”
Seeing Beth act as if she were the host, Maggie readily agreed. “Sure.”
Beth immediately called the waiter and ordered an additional ribeye steak and Boston lobster.
After ordering, Beth withdrew her gaze and appeared familiar with Maggie, taking the initiative to speak, “Ms. Adam, are you accompanying Nathael on a project abroad?
Hm, very good.
She jumps straight to defining herself as a man’s accessory and playmate, somehow making it sound like there’s nothing wrong with that.
Chapter 154 A Special Case
Maggie found Beth more interesting than Vanessa, She inexplicably wanted to see how this well–born lady could keep her facade.
Upon hearing this, Maggic made a shy expression and glanced affectionately at Nathael across from her.
“Yes, there was an exchange opportunity at school. Initially, I didn’t want to come, but Nathael persuaded me to relax a bit, so I agreed. I didn’t expect him to follow along as well.”
Maggie spoke affectedly, with a hint of infuriating sweetness in the corners of her eyes and brows.
Well, facing a woman who covets Nathael, appearing so weak, helpless, and pitiful, what else can I do?
Of course, I need to infuriate her, infuriate her, or infuriate her!
“I’ve heard of you before. Being able to secure a spot for the school’s overseas exchange program shows how outstanding you are, Maggie said with a smile.
Maggie raised an eyebrow and looked at her with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile. “Sorry, but I haven’t heard of you.”
With that one sentence, she successfully stopped the conversation.
Nathael couldn’t help but curl his lips slightly. He unbuttoned his shirt and leaned back in his chair, revealing his sexy Adam’s apple.
Upon hearing this, Beth’s smile indeed froze for a moment. She was about to say something else when her gaze inadvertently caught sight of the red bracelet on Maggie’s wrist.
It was very delicate and simple, hardly even considered an accessory. Yet, the red half–piece against the woman’s slender and fair wrist was particularly eye–catching, making it hard to look away.
