Let's Start All Over Again, Shall We (Maggie and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 218

Chapter 218 What Are You Talking About?

When Maggie heard this, she felt a wave of relief wash over her.

Just as she was about to speak, Ronald’s call interrupted her.

Maggie kept her cool as she picked up the phone.“Dad, I was just about to call you.

“What’s happening there? Why aren’t you wearing the jewelry we arranged for you? Do you understand why you’re participating in this competition? Maggie, are you trying to go against us now?” Ronald’s voice held back anger.

Even though Ronald wasn’t yelling, Maggie could sense his frustration.

Maggie knew that Ronald’s subdued level of anger was a sign of him almost losing it, especially for someone as strategic as him.

“Dad. I’m not…” Maggie pretended to choke up, as if she had a lot to say, but was unsure if she should speak up.

“It’s one thing if Sierra doesn’t cooperate, but why are you going against us too?” Ronald’s tone softened slightly, sounding like a caring yet disappointed elder.

“Dad, what’s going on with Sierra?” Maggie acted as if she didn’t know, deliberately asking.

At that moment, Ronald was close to exploding with anger. Olivia had just informed him about Sierra’s sudden decision to change her jewelry.

Everything had been planned out, and all that was left was to execute the plan.

But then someone from the company called, saying that Maggie wasn’t wearing Luster Corporation’s jewelry. Meanwhile, Sierra didn’t wear Luster Corporation’s jewelry either; she actually wore jewelry from Adam Group!

This nearly made Ronald lose his temper on the spot. Master Cameron even fainted right in front of him.

“We’ll talk about Sierra later tonight. For now, tell me: What’s your side of the story? Are you afraid of being linked to Luster Corporation, which might affect your future? Or are you worried about tarnishing your reputation?”

Ronald asked sternly, eager to hear Maggie’s explanation.

Maggie had already prepared her explanation.

“Dad, it’s not my call. When I was backstage, Nathael sent over a set of jewelry. So many people were around, and I didn’t want to embarrass or upset him because it might involve the family.”

When Ronald heard this, he was stunned for a moment.

This was something he hadn’t anticipated.

“Really?” Ronald furrowed his brow, unsure whether Maggie getting close to Nathael was good or bad.

After all, for the past six months, the Camerons hadn’t gained anything from Nathael, but they had

“Of course, it’s true. Dad, you must have seen the jewelry I wore; just ask someone who knows about it. Besides, there were so many people backstage. I wouldn’t lie about something like this,” Maggie explained cagerly, sounding somewhat agitated.

Ronald’s mind was a mess, and his mood was sour. But ultimately, he didn’t think the blame should fall entirely on Maggie.

He softened his tone and said, “So there’s this hidden truth. But you should understand that we’ve put a lot. of effort into this competition, but you changed your mind at the last minute. You should have at least informed us.”

Upon hearing this, Maggie choked up. “Dad, I texted you at the time, and later, I heard Sierra say she was going to call Mom, so I asked her to inform von Didn’t Mom tell you?”

Ronald frowned and checked his phone. There were no messages, but there was a WhatsApp text from Maggic.

Seeing this, Ronald couldn’t say anything else..

But then he thought again. Since Sierra didn’t mention this matter at all, Ronald felt even more frustrated.

I’m sorry. Dad. I really didn’t expect this to become such a big deal. I wanted to call you at the time, but the backstage was chaotic, and I was about to go on stage, so I didn’t have time…”

Maggie apologized softly, sounding particularly sincere.

“It’s okay. It’s not entirely your fault. If you didn’t accept Mr. Harris’s gifts, you’d be embarrassing him in front of everyone, which would only make him resent the Camerons and you.”
