Chapter 284 If God Shows Mercy to Mankind

The soft morning sunlight was filtering through the windows, scattering a radiant glow across the forest. bed. “What do you want?” Maggic asked; her gaze was calm and composed. The sunlight enveloped her face, making her delicate features appear even more stunning.

Timmothy didn’t give a direct response. Instead, he proposed, “Have you heard of the famous fountain on Parbo Hill? According to legend, if you climb to the summit and make a sincere wish at the fountain. people will see their disasters alleviated and their wishes fulfilled. Would you like to go see it?”

Maggie disliked the way he spoke, which was as torturous as a slow execution, elusive, and unfathomable, making it impossible for her to guess his true intentions.

As if seeing through her thoughts, Timmothy smiled softly. He said warmly, “Don’t you have any wishes? I’m just looking for someone to accompany me.”

This was, by far, the most absurd reason Maggie had ever heard. He wanted someone to accompany him on a climb, so he dragged her all this way!

Looking at his pale, harmless face and the melancholic depths in his beautiful eyes, Maggie felt a sudden urge to bag his head and batter him.

“I’m not interested in climbing mountains. We’re all adults here; let’s go straight to the point. What do you want?” Maggie said it coldly.

Timmothy seemed slightly disappointed. He sighed and said, “Maggie, you’re dying. Don’t you have any wishes?”

He approached the French window with his gaze fixed on the rising sun. There was a fragile air about him, as if he could break with the slightest touch. Yet, at the same time, an eerie sense of darkness lingered around him, rendering him both contradictory and enigmatic.

Maggie struggled to articulate her emotions toward him. This man seemed to be torn between two conflicting sides of himself, one veiled in shadows and the other bathed in sunlight.

Did she have any wishes?

Of course, she did.

Maggie was silent for a long time before she broke it. Her voice was slightly hoarse. “I don’t believe in God.”

Timmothy responded quietly, “Yet, the gods have given you a chance to start anew.”

Maggie was speechless and unable to argue with him.

Just then, Timmothy’s phone rang/His overly pale fingers answered the call at a measured pace. Maggie stood not far away. She could clearly hear the voice on the other end.

“Mr. Timmothy, Mr. Nathael has arrived.

Maggie’s heart clenched when she heard this. She instinctively wanted to move forward. Before hanging up, Timmothy turned and looked at her, as if he had eyes on the back of his head. He asked, “Maggie, do you remember the explosion in Alosea?”

Chapter 284 If God Shows Mercy to Mankind

A chemical plant in Alosea had once stored materials improperly, resulting in a massive explosion that released toxic gases, affecting many civilians.

At that time, she had been too busy strategizing for the Camerons to pay much attention to the incident. It was sensational news, and she knew some details.

The accident claimed over twenty lives and injured more than thirty people, resulting in severe repercussions for the local officials held accountable.

Maggie carefully recalled the accident and realized it had occurred around this time.

Was Timmothy implying

She instinctively looked up when she thought of this. Her eyes reddening slightly, she asked in a raspy voice. “You plan to use me as bait to lure Nathael to that chemical plant!”

Timmothy said nothing. He merely smiled and said, “So, you do remember that incident.”

Maggie rushed forward quickly. She grabbed his shirt, her eyes icy, and warned. “Timmothy, if you dare to harm him even slightly, I’ll drag you to hell with me even if it kills me!”

Timmothy grinned. He wrapped an arm around Maggie’s waist and leaned in close. His face looked both eerie and insane, as he stated, “But Maggie, it was you who dragged him to hell with you in a past life.

His breath brushed her ear, causing Maggie’s body to shudder. Her throat tightened.

She didn’t dodge, but she met his gaze with reddened eyes. The scent of a stranger felt uncomfortably unsettling for her.

Timmothy smiled gently, his eyes fixed on her as if awaiting her response.

Maggie snatched the phone from his hand and pushed him away violently.
