His confident words resonated with Ronald. 

Even though he had been maintaining a tough front, he didn’t want his life’s work to crumble. During such stressful times, he yearned for some good news. 

However, Ronald, being shrewd, grasped Nathael’s hidden message. 

Although the Camerons’ situation didn’t match the Harrises, there was potential for improvement. 

Nathael’s mention of engagement indicated his intention to support the Camerons in some way, as shown by his generous offer of money. 

While 150 million might not mean much to the Harrises, it was a significant gesture for an engagement. 

Ronald understood that this engagement wasn’t set in stone, Nathael likely wanted to test the waters with this money and see if the Camerons could stand on their own..

Why is Nathael giving them hope?

Nathael then turned to Ronald and said, “Consider this money my personal engagement gift. I understand the Camerons are struggling, so I won’t insist on anything.” 

Upon hearing this, Alex expressed concern. “But, Mr. Harris … it might be hard to explain to Master Harris when word gets out.” 

Nathael frowned slightly and asserted, “It’s fine. I can handle it.” 

Alex didn’t say more. As he counted the contracts, he muttered loud enough for everyone to hear, “But the Camerons aren’t beggars. How can they accept an engagement without contributing anything? If this gets out, people might think the Harrises are doing charity for poor people …” 

He and Alex were scheming to pressure Ronald into providing more money. 

After Alex’s remarks, Ronald, Master Cameron, and the rest appeared displeased. 

The Camerons were considered well–off. Being compared to poor people was hurmiliating.
