Chapter 49 Snatching The Necklace
Upon hearing this, Mia chuckled and gave Vanessa a scrutinizing look before retorting, “Ms. Brown, it seems you find everything that belongs to others attractive.”
Vanessa’s face paled as she said, “I genuinely think this necklace is beautiful. Besides, this necklace isn’t
yours yet.”
On this point, she was right.
Mia was a VIP member of Dansko. After the staff enthusiastically introduced many styles, they cordially invited the two to try on clothes and jewelry in a private guest room.
Mia had initially come for the brand’s new arrivals, but unfortunately, they were a bit delayed.
Just as the two were about to leave after their purchase, many new arrivals came into the store.
Presumably, to leave a better impression on the customers, the staff immediately introduced several new arrivals to Mia as soon as they arrived, which is how they ran into Vanessa in the store.
Mia sneered. Her expression was indifferent as she took out her card and said, “Now, it is mine.”
Vanessa looked at the necklace with disappointment in her eyes and remained silent. Meanwhile, Mia sat on the sofa and tilted her head to look at her. She smiled and asked, “Do you have any objections?
“Ms. Gatlin, your hostility towards me is too strong. I have no ill intentions. I just sincerely praised this recklace,” Vanessa spoke slowly, her eyes reddening.
Mia sneered, “Ms. Brown, you came from a humble background that can’t even afford a one–carat diamond, but surprisingly, you have a taste for high–end jewelry? It seems I need to learn from you to see if you are as knowledgeable about jewelry as you are about seducing men.”
After a pause, Mia casually glanced at Vanessa’s outfit and said with a playful smile, “Ms. Brown, how many months of salary did you save for this?”
It seemed like a casual inquiry, but each word stabbed at Vanessa’s heart. She clenched her fists tightly and looked at Mia angrily.
She knew that she would never have the confidence of Mia because that confidence was built on countless luxuries. The confidence came from being spoiled and indulged to the extreme.
She was jealous and resentful, not understanding why the world was so unfair from the start.
Mia’s arrogance and indulgence seemed to be ingrained in her. She never saw herself as anything less than superior, and she never had to flatter or accommodate anything she didn’t like.
Upon hearing this, Maggie couldn’t help but smile.
Mia’s words left no room for face–saving, and Vanessa must be feeling uncomfortable now.
At this moment, the elderly woman who came with Vanessa finally spoke. She asked the store manager gently, “Mr. Mason, do you have another one of this necklace?”

The elderly woman patted Vanessa’s hand, remaining silent, and patiently waited for a response.
Mr. Mason hurriedly stepped forward and said, “I’m sorry, Madam. There is only one of this necklace.”
Upon hearing this, the elderly woman nodded and said again, “We also want this necklace now. Mr. Carter from Dansko and I are old friends. Why don’t you ask him if he has any good solutions?”
Mia squinted at the elderly woman in front of her. The woman was very patient, not mentioning the necklace, but her every move showed her intention to stand up for Vanessa.
Mia couldn’t recall any notable figures in Aquapolis like this woman. But she could tell that the woman’s demeanor was long–standing and not ordinary.
“Madam, are you planning to snatch this necklace?” Mia cut to the chase, not intimidated at all.
“Not at all. It’s not about snatching the necklace. It’s just that everyone has a love for beauty. Since Vanessa likes it, as an elder, I naturally want to do my best to fulfill her wish,” the woman spoke slowly, neither humble nor arrogant, showing no signs of displeasure.
Mia chuckled. She hated this kind of old–fashioned person the most.
They always beat around the bush. Every time they opened their mouth, they laid down a bunch of rules, which gave her a headache.
Out of nowhere, Mia’s thoughts turned to her grandmother at home. Her grandmother was always talking
and complaining, but she was still her grandmother. Despite her constant nagging at home, she alking
