“The reality is so severe that anyone with a discerning eye can see it. Do I have to show you how anxious I am?” Jasper smiled bitterly.
Celine snorted. “Do you also know that the consequences are serious? You knew it, yet you still do it. Now that you’ve done it, it is tantamount to offending the United States and the entirety of Wall Street.”
“If l don’t do this, I would also be offending them. Is it possible to expect those capitalist elders to let me off the hook?” Jasper said in rumination.
Celine played with her expensive pen.
Only 50 pieces of this limited edition Montblanc Bohéme were sold throughout the world. One would be able to get replacement parts for it throughout its lifetime, making it extremely valuable. If other people got such a pen that was valuable enough to be exchanged with the most expensive sports car, they would probably put it in the cabinet to cherish it, but in Celine’s hands, it had returned to its most essential function. It was just for writing.
“You are a noble person now. Tell me, what the hell is it?” Celine knew that Jasper would not come to her if he did not need anything, much less at this critical time. There had to be something very important since he was seeking her out, so she did not waste too much time.
“I heard that Sentel Corporation has been in contact with your family, and they are hoping to get some help from your family in the United States political arena.” Jasper asked.
Celine raised her eyebrows.
Celine’ s eyebrows were sharp, and it was very rare for women to have them because it was not an easy look to carry. If an ordinary woman had such eyebrows, she would inevitably appear crude and uncoordinated. However, the sharp eyebrows complemented Celine. Not only did they not look masculine, but they added a sharp aura to Celine that an average woman would never be able to pull off.
“I don‘t know much about the specifics in the family, but I did hear about it before. Mr. Laine, you’re something else. On the surface, you seem to be indifferent to my family, but secretly, you know such confidential news.”
Celine did not pretend to be surprised.
