“Should we go home or should we go to the office?” Wendy asked.
Jasper said, “Let’s go to the office. I need t
o tell them something.” Julian quickly gestured to the convoy to
drive to the office without waiting for
official orders.
“Next time, you don’t have to be so extravagant when you’re picking me up. I don’t need a convoy… What a bad influence.”
Jasper looked at the three cars in front and the three cars at the back and said suddenly.
Wendy said helplessly, “I know you don’t like these but we have to do this today.
“There’s a lot of rumors circulating out there that you’ve fled the country. There are even worse rumors that were said, so now that you’re back, how are we going to stop those rumors if we don’t do this so in such a high-profile way?”
Jasper lifted his eyebrows and said, ” Worse than saying that I’ve fled? Are they
saying that I’m dead?”
Wendy clenched her fists and gritted her teeth. She said, “I’ve asked someone to find out who’s the one who said this. I will make their life a living hell.”
Jasper laughed and patted Wendy’s hand. He said, “Don’t be mad. The more famous you are, the more criticism you attract. We’re famous now, so a lot of people want me dead and want JW to collapse. We can’t put a stop to those lies and slanders.
“Plus, JW Foundation indeed doesn’t look good. Hence, it’s only expected that those people start to look down on us.”
Wendy sighed and said, “Sometimes, I can’t wrap my head around this. You’re standing in front of everyone and you’re stopping the United State capital from attacking the country’s market, but not only do they not feel grateful, but they’re also even hurting you from the back with a look of schadenfreude on their faces. I feel so bad for you sometimes.”
“That’s the way it is. There will be lackeys and short-sighted people everywhere. At the end of the day, it’s all for profit.”
The convoy drove forward, and after more than 40 minutes, they arrived at Southface River Tower.
