Life at The Top novel Chapter 2138

Wendy glanced at the thermos. Since May had kindly offered it, she could not refuse it. Then, she showed a trace of her signature fake smile. “What a coincidence. I’m pretty hungry. Thank you, Aunty May…”

After speaking, she took the thermos from May’s hand, paused, and said, “By the way, Aunty May, I have something to tell you later. Can you come to my office after the meeting?”

Although May did not know what Wendy wanted to tell her, she nodded with a smile. “Okay, I’ll go over later.”

Wendy returned to her office with the thermos and unscrewed the lid to see that it contained some chicken soup. It had been boiled until it was fragrant. The smell alone could evoke one’s cravings.

The corners of Wendy’s mouth twitched slightly. ‘This woman went through so much trouble for this…’

After breakfast, Wendy took a tissue and wiped her mouth. Then, there was a knock outside her door.

Knock knock knock!

“Wendy, are you busy? It’s me, Aunty May.”

“Come in. The door is open.”

May opened the door the next second and greeted Wendy with a smile. “Wendy, I’m sorry. The manager of our department delayed the meeting for more than ten minutes. Sorry for making you wait.”

Wendy smiled and said, “It’s okay, I just finished the breakfast you prepared. It tastes delicious!”

A smile crept into May’s eyes as she heard that. “Really? Then I’ll bring you breakfast every day.”

Wendy smiled and shook her head. “It’s okay. You also have to come to work every day. It will be too troublesome if you have to cook me breakfast too.”

Although she felt disdainful in her heart, Wendy still smiled and said, “Aunty May, you don’t have to be nervous. No one is born smart. It’s okay that you have no experience. Someone from the company will guide you. Besides, your current status is that of my father’s girlfriend, and soon, you two will get married. You can’t keep working at the grassroots level in JW Group. Jasper and I would be embarrassed if word got out, right?”

May originally wanted to refuse, but after hearing what Wendy said, she had no choice but to swallow her words of refusal.

“Okay, I’ll try to do as you ask. You and Jasper can’t be mad at me if I don’t do a good job.”

Wendy smiled softly. “Of course…”

After May left the office, she went to a stairwell in JW Tower that no one usually frequented. Then, she took out a cell phone and dialed a foreign number.
