Life at The Top novel Chapter 2140

After hearing this, Jasper became even more embarrassed. He quickly stopped, “No, don’t say that. We’re all decent people, and it’s nothing like you said.”

“Tch, if you are considered decent, then truly decent people don’t exist in this world,” Celine rolled her eyes and said.

“Alright, didn’t you want me to accompany me to buy a birthday present? Let’s go now,” Celine said and walked out.

Jasper quickly followed, and the two went to the antique street in Nine Dragon Town. This was a relatively famous antique market in Harbor City. It had existed since more than 100 years ago, and many storefronts were time-honored shops with well-known reputations. Even so, if customers who did not frequent often wanted to get something, they had to be cautious.

After all, there were few genuine products worldwide, while most goods were fakes and high-quality imitations.

“We’re here. Let’s get out of the car now.”

Jasper parked near the antique street and got out of the car with Celine.

Neatly arranged antique storefronts stood on both sides of the street, ranging from large to small. Some of them even occupied two or three stories and were filled with all kinds of antiques and calligraphy.

Celine stood on the street and glanced around. Then, she lamented, “I’ve never seen such a wide variety of antique shops when I was in Swallow Capital. It seems that what they said is true. Tomb raiders stole the goods from the mainland of Somerland and distributed them to Harbor City and abroad more than a hundred years ago. Hence, it is rare to see genuine goods in the local Swallow Capital market…”

She noticed that the store on her left was pretty well-decorated as she spoke. Then, she turned to Jasper and said, “Let’s go to that store first, shall we?”

Jasper nodded. “Okay…”

After speaking, he followed her into the store.

The owner and a staff member were the only ones in the shop. Both of them were middle-aged men over forty years old. After seeing the guests, the staff member quickly greeted them warmly and asked, “Sir, Madam, please come in. What are you looking for?”

Jasper turned a deaf ear to the staff member as he was rambling. Instead, he picked up the clay teapot and looked at it carefully before his eyes.

The craftsmanship of this clay teapot was not bad, and it was indeed made between 960-1127.

“So? What do you see?” Celine asked from one side.

She knew nothing about antiques, so she could only let Jasper look at them.

After a while, Jasper played the clay teapot on the table and said calmly, “It’s true that it’s made between 960-1127. However, this is not something a prime minister used. It’s just a defective item from back then. A real aristocrat or nobleman would not use this. This is just something a well-off commoner would put up with. It’s not easy to have preserved it until now.”

“Ah, I see! I didn’t think that you’re so well-educated about antiques,” After Celine heard Jasper’s explanation, she felt slightly disappointed even though she had no idea when Jasper had learned about antiques.
