I stared at Jessica for a moment, words escaping me. "What are you saying?"

Jessica did not say anything. Instead, she held on tighter to Joey and looked over at Dr. Miller. Suddenly, Dr. Miller’s words rang through my head as well. Around the time that Lily was being tortured, there was an increase in the number of wolves experiencing betrayal pains from otherwise faithful partners. Oh, Goddess. Oh, no. "Are you… are you saying that Stephanie and Sheila intentionally caused other wolves to experience betrayal pains as a form of torture?"
