Just half an hour after this had happened, Yannick received a call that made him break out into a cold sweat.

A long while later, he snapped out of his stupor and shouted, "Get Sophie Horlay in here, right now!"

Someone at the door called out in response, and Sophie was brought in not long after.

Yannick was all smiles as he invited Sophie to sit down, even brewing a cup of tea for her personally.

Sophie eyed Yannick warily, who smiled at her. "Miss Horlay, you've been promoted to supervisor of telecommunications. Your duty from now on is to make sure everyone else does their job well, and nothing else.

"Huh? Why?" Sophie was clearly surprised.

Yannick smiled. "Ah, you must not know yet. Your cousin Mister Penn's now the head of security at Leeker Corp."

Sophie's expression turned dazed.

"Oh right, you probably don't know what Leeker Corp is either. That's the largest company in all of Mewatown. Madam Demi Madres is the CEO of the company, which means your cousin made it big. He also killed one of Leeker's most established elders not long after coming into position, to which Madam Madres did nothing at all! Just imagine how highly she must think of your cousin," said Yannick with a smile.

Sophie reacted at last, showing a slightly startled look before breaking out into a happy smile.

Yannick smiled back at her. "Truly powerful people will make a name for themselves no matter where they go. I hope you'll be able to put in a good word to him for me, Miss Horlay."

"I'll do that when I have a chance," nodded Sophie.

Yannick nodded profusely. "Alright, then. You can have the rest of the day off. I'll announce your new position to everyone tomorrow, and you can start work as head of telecommunications tomorrow."

Sophie nodded, and Yannick got up to walk her out of his office.

Sophie was brought to her own room after that, which was decorated even more lavishly than in a five-star hotel.
