The incident with Maddox had cleared out a large chunk of the political scene in Manand, leaving many empty spots in its wake.
Jimmy had taken a chance this time and got lucky enough to earn a spot at the president's office banquet.
However, Jimmy knew that he had next to no connections, which meant that things would not be easy for him.
He had racked his brains trying to get close to Leo in hopes of a chance to work for him. If Leo took him in, then his future would be set.
As for Wilbur, it was clear at first glance that the guy was not a Manand local. He was probably some journalist who had been hired to fill the room.
Thus, Jimmy hardly thought much of Wilbur.
Leo waved a hand at Jimmy's words. "That won't be necessary. I really am curious to know just what gives him the nerve to speak to me like this."
"Come on, he's no more than an insolent, uncultured bastard," Jimmy wheedled.
Leo said nothing, eyeing Wilbur coldly.
Wilbur smirked. "Get out of my sight before I get angry, or there will be consequences."
"That bastard! General Emer, I can't take it anymore! Please just let me take care of him," Jimmy said indignantly, glowering at Wilbur.
Leo merely sneered coldly, maintaining eye contact with Wilbur. "I've met my fair share of arrogant men, but you really take the cake. This one's a rare case."
Just then, a big group of officials came crowding over.
"Come on, young man. Apologize to General Emer while you can, and he might just spare your life."
"This is your only chance! We're all trying to help you here, the least you can do is listen to us."
Wilbur glanced at them and broke into a fit of laughter. "I'd worry about myself if I were you. You might just regret getting on my bad side, you know."
"Regret?"
