Jacques glared at her. "I'm not interested in things that fall into my lap."
The words struck a sore spot in Jayla. She felt as if her pride had been hurled onto the ground and shattered like glass.
Shame and rage, among many other emotions, flooded her brain, and she wanted nothing more than to choke the bastard out.
Jacques smirked at the look on her face. "I guess it's not completely impossible for you to get into the banquet."
Jayla lit up with hope, an overwhelming desperation that instantly displaced all her shame as she stared at him hungrily.
"Strip, and put on a show for me," Jacques said, taking a sip of his wine.
Jayla gritted her teeth, taking everything off her as she stood in front of Jacques smoldering at him. "What kind of show do you like, Mister Jacques?"
"I like watching dogs," Jacques smiled.
Jayla's expression shifted, and Jacques looked at her calmly.
The next second, Jayla smiled. She got on the ground on all fours, sticking her bottom into the air as she crawled around while barking just like a dog.
She was an actor, after all, and put on a pretty convincing show.
Jacques let out a loud, guffawing laugh at the performance before him.
Jayla kept the act up for a good few minutes, and Jacques finished a glass of red wine.
Just then, Jayla crawled over with a smile before filling up Jacques' glass. "Not bad. I think you've earned a shot at getting into the banquet."
"What else would you like to see? I'm a great performer. I studied performing arts, after all." Jayla smiled.
