Living With My Lady Boss by Blue Silver novel Chapter 1557

Wilbur finally flared up, snatching the knife out of Donna's hands and slamming it down on the table. "Drop the act. There is absolutely nothing going on between us, and you can forget about trying to make me look bad."

Donna shook her head, rushing out of the room. Her sobs could still be heard from outside.

Everyone else looked at each other, unsure what to do. They dug into their food with a sudden burst of gusto, desperate to break the tension in the air.

Wilbur shook his head helplessly as he sat down. "There really isn't anything going on between the both of us. I don't know what's gotten into this lady, please don't overthink it."

"Of course, of course," Warner and the others scrambled to nod.

Internally, however, not a single one of them believed Wilbur. As if the two of them were innocent, judging from what had just happened.

Yet none of them dared to say a word.

The banquet reached its end eventually, with the air growing colder by the second.

Just then, Wilbur said, "How about this, Warner? You can continue the discussion with Jonah here. I'll head to the hospital to pay Sarah a visit."

Wilbur wanted to get to the bottom of whatever was wrong with this lady. Seeing as she was a friend of Sarah's, Wilbur might be able to get the truth from Sarah herself.

Warner and the others were more than thrilled to have that happen and scrambled to nod.

Wilbur got to his feet and left, and Warner had his driver send Wilbur to the hospital.

Sarah was lying in her bed, staring at the ceiling in a daze. It was unclear what she was thinking about.

It wasn't until Wilbur sat down by her side that she even realized he was there.

"Are you feeling better?" asked Wilbur.

Sarah glanced at him, before turning her face to the side. "I'm fine. It's a small injury."

Wilbur fell silent for a beat, before saying, "What's your relationship with Donna like?"

"We're friends. I'm sure you two are close now," Sarah said with her face still turned away.
