Wilbur sat down, pushing his glasses up as he waited.
A few minutes later, Yance finished sorting through his files. He made himself a cup of tea, taking a sip before turning to Wilbur at last.
Wilbur hurried to bow.
Yance flashed a smile of satisfaction. "Your results are brilliant, and even the president of our hospital put in a good word for you."
"I'm deeply thankful to both of you," Wilbur said with another bow.
Yance's words took a sharp turn after that. "It's just that we don't have any open internship slots, so you'll be assigned to housekeeping for the time being. How's that?"
Wilbur frowned. "Sir, I'm a medical student. I don't think putting me in housekeeping is the best idea, isn't it?"
What was Wilbur supposed to do in housekeeping? Clean his way up the ranks?
Yance let out a cough. "I'm sorry, but our internship labs are full for now. We'll be sure to reassign you eventually."
He picked up his cup of tea, smirking at Wilbur.
This medical student must be out of his mind thinking he would be able to start at the labs the second he got here.
Wilbur frowned. "Mister Hoover, shouldn't I be a medical intern at the very least? Please assign a mentor to me. I'm not fit for housekeeping at all."
Yance snorted at him. It was important to teach these new students a lesson that the world was far from what they thought it was, and there were rules in place for a reason. On top of that, people like Yance were in charge of these rules.
Wilbur's expression darkened as well. "I'm not going to housekeeping. You've employed me already and should thus assign me the internship I was hired for."
