When Sherry finally saw that it was Wilbur, she screamed even more. “Please don’t hurt me! I’ll apologize! I swear I’ll apologize!”
“Calm down. I’m one of the good guys.”
Wilbur untied Sherry and helped her onto a chair. He sat across from her, lighting a cigarette.
Sherry was trembling all over, not even daring to look Wilbur in the eye.
Whatever happened that day had scared the living hell out of her.
Wilbur shook his head and sighed. “What did I tell you? Don’t go down the wrong path. I was right, wasn’t I?”
Sherry burst into tears at once, sobbing loudly. Wilbur frowned, not knowing what to say
A long time later, Sherry’s sobs finally died down. She snuck a glance at Wilbur, saying in between hiccups, “1–I didn’t know I’d g–get into so much t–trouble. If I know, I would ven–never done that.”
“Do you know your life is in danger right now?” Wilbur asked.
Sherry began to sob again. “I know. I’m sorry. I’ll never do it again.”
Wilbur sighed, saying nothing.
Sherry was fresh into her twenties, and he did not want to give her too hard of a time.
Very soon, Elsa arrived with her team of officers. She shook her head at the sight before her. “You just had to take all the
credit.”
“You can claim it, alright?” Wilbur said with a smile.
Elsa snapped her fingers, and her team got to work at once, putting Cinq and his men in handcuffs.
“You’re going to have to come with us too, Sherry Divos,” Fla said
Elsa trembled at the words. She looked at Wilbur and pleaded, “Please! Please don’t let them take me away. I’ll say sorry, and I’ll compensate you too!”
Elsa asked coldly. “What’s that going to fix? You were involved in falsifying evidence and framing an innocent person. That’s enough to put you in jail, you know.”
“No! I can’t go to jail! I’m still young! Please let me go!” Sherry was scared out of her wits, begging and pleading for her life.
Elsa shook her head. “You had the perfect chance to apologize to Wilbur when he went to see you, and none of this would’ve happened.”
“I didn’t think it would get that bad! I’ll never do it again! Please let me go!”
