After that, Ramos passed the test of the six elders and became the most powerful person in the underwater city. However, the hatred and shame in his heart never left.
In fact, the trauma Ramos had received from being seen as abnormal made him hesitate between saving and destroying the underwater city several times.
Fremont was far more powerful than Ramos, and his appearance in the underwater city made Ramos think he had found his savior. Ramos begged Fremont to help him and expel all his evil thoughts from his head.
This time, Fremont actually agreed to the merfolk emperor's request and did just as he requested, separating the evil thoughts in his body to form Demon. Fremont had Ramos lock Demon in the dungeon and told him that there would be a huge shift in the underwater city the day the eighth dragon cauldron's chosen one showed up.
Ramos had thought that he would be able to serve the underwater city well now without his evil thoughts and that the appearance of the eighth dragon cauldron would bring good to the underwater city.
Yet a few centuries later, when the eighth dragon cauldron's chosen one showed up, something like this happened. Demon was not exorcised but instead returned to Ramos' body. The merfolk emperor found the whole thing laughable and felt as if he had been lied to by Fremont this entire time.
All at once, the evil thoughts in Ramos' head grew all the more powerful. He stared at himself in the mirror, and his reflection smirked back at him. Ramos picked up the mask, putting it back on.
"What are you doing?"
"Just seeing my friends off. I would have never been able to return to your body if they hadn't killed me. I might very well still be forced to suffer in that dungeon. You won't like this, but I will."
Outside the army base, Hagin gave Wilbur the Eight Dragon Cauldron. "Congratulations, you've passed all nine checkpoints. The eighth dragon cauldron's yours."
