Wilbur slowly walked into the room. He lit a cigarette and said, "How come I haven't heard of Jarlinville's Anne clan?"
Skyler was surprised, "No way. Jarlinville's Anne clan of Kardon Province is an ancient family, and everyone in their family are cultivators. The head of the clan, Sam Anne, is a powerful intermediate Ambience level cultivator. I heard they have an elder in retreat to focus on cultivation. They basically never involve themselves in worldly matters, but they are powerful."
Wilbur frowned and said, "He's only an intermediate Ambience level cultivator. Also, are the historical remains in the territory of the Anne clan?"
"It's at the mountain behind where the Anne clan lives, but it's not their property," replied Skyler.
Wilbur scoffed and said, "We'll deal with it if he gets involved. Stop nagging."
Wilbur was very interested in discovering the historical remains. It would be great if he discovered a good sacrifice. There was no way he could let this opportunity go.
Skyler had nothing to say to that and could only nod.
They went out and Wilbur let Skyler drive. He sat in the passenger seat to rest his eyes.
Jarlinville was on the east end of Kardon Province. They were eight hundred miles apart, so they required some time to get there.
Skyler drove on the highway, taking them to Jarlinville.
…
Meanwhile, at Anne Village at the foot of Wavepeak Mountain in Jarlinville, the entire village was made up of members from the Anne clan. They were living a peaceful and contented life at the secluded Wavepeak Mountain.
It was that afternoon that the head of the clan, Sam Anne, led hundreds of villagers to the entrance of the family shrine.
The shrine was old and magnificent. It looked ancient.
