Clara didn’t know what to say, so she made a noncommittal sound, and lowered her head to eat breakfast.
Donny’s was amazingly fast at getting things done. A phone call went out and about twenty minutes later, a lawyer in a suit came to the villa.
Ethan gave the contract to Clara, “Check it and see if there is anything you want to change.”
Clara took the contract and read it through. The requirements were all drawn up in the contract, and there were no mistakes.
She took the pen, paused for a few seconds at the signature section at the end of the page, and then very signed her name.
After the lawyer left, Ethan looked at his watch, “Do you have your family register with you?”
“I put all my important things at Mae’s place. She was the old maid who used to take care of me.” Clara picked up the coat on the shelf, “My family register is also there, wait for me and I will go and pick it up on the way.”
Ethan Preston grunted in acknowledgment, and the two went out together.
As he walked into the open-air parking lot, Ethan Preston’s cell phone suddenly rang. He glanced at it, frowned, and answered, “What’s the matter?”
“...”
She didn’t know what the person on the other end said, but Clara saw his expression sink before he hanged up the phone.
“Donny, take Clara to get her family register, I’m going out.” After saying that, he got into the Maybach driver’s seat and quickly drove out of Preston Village.
Did something happen at the company?
Clara was afraid that Ethan had something urgent to deal with and wanted to ask Donny to help.
Donny seemed to have seen through Clara’s thoughts and smiled slightly. “Since Mr. Preston didn’t need me, then it must not be that urgent. Ms. Rowan, don’t worry, get in the car.”
“Okay.” Hearing him say that Clara no longer worried stooped down and entered the car.
Mae’s didn’t live in the city, but around 20 minutes car drive away.
Donny waited downstairs and Clara went upstairs to Mae’s door. However, before she could knock, she heard a bang and Mae shout.
“Mae?” Her heart sank and she knocked on the door and said loudly, “What’s wrong?”
Seeing that there was no response from inside, Clara’s heart sank even more.
Mae was someone who had watched her grow up. Ever since her grandmother had left, there had only been Mae left bedside her...
Clara took out her phone and was about to call Donny to come up
, when the door suddenly opened, revealing Mae’s face. “Miss, why are you here? “
“I came to grab some things......” Clara was about to breathe a sigh of relief after seeing Mae, but then she saw that Mae was bending over with an abnormal expression on her face. “Mae what’s wrong with your back?”
Mae forced a laugh. “Oh, nothing, I just fell and hurt my back.”
“Your forehead is covered in sweat, and you still say you’re, okay?” Clara knew that Mae was more fragile at her age, and so she helped her get in the elevator, “Let’s go to the hospital and have them take a look.”
“What are we going to the hospital for, there’s no need, it’s too much trouble......” Mae wanted to decline, but her back hurt so much that she grunted in pain.
Seeing this, Clara became even more anxious.
After going downstairs, Clara carefully helped Mae into the back seat, “Donny, please go to the hospital.”
Donny started the car without delay.
