“Ms. Rowan, my boss has paid for your grandma’s medical bill” The driver passed several receipts to Clara Rowan.
Clara Rowan tremblingly took the receipts and looked at the medicines bought. She finally felt relieved and asked expectantly, “Did Steve Lane send you to pick me up? “
She knew that there was a security camera in front of the building and that Steve could see her!
The driver shook his head, “Mr. Lane stole everything from you and compared you to a dog. What do you expect from him?”
He pulled open the rear passenger seat. “Ms. Rowan, please.”
Clara raised his head and saw a man sitting in the back seat of the car. His legs were slightly folded, and there was smoke lingering between his fingers. Just sitting there, he let off an aura of aloofness.
“I don’t know your boss... “
“My boss will tell you what you want to know.” The driver said, “By the way, he does not like to wait for others.”
Clara knew the meaning of his words.
She didn’t know the man inside the car, but she really wanted to know the truth. She bit her lips and stood up. The moment she moved her leg, blood started to flow.
The driver at once wrapped up her wound and gave her a bath towel. She wrapped it around herself and entered the car, sitting beside the man.
The car started quickly.
Clara saw the man’s flawless face through the light in the car. Between his slender fingers, there was a cigarette. His profile seemed familiar.
She pursed her lower lip, “What are you going to tell me?”
The man did not answer. He just turned his head, his cold eyes sweeping over her, finally stopping on her neck.
“Return the necklace to me.” The voice was low with a bit of coldness.
Clara reflexively touched the necklace around her neck, and hearing the word ‘return,’ she realized that this necklace had come from the man that night. Her entire body shook in anger.
“So, the man that night was you!” She had seen the side of his face in the photo before!
“You also sent me the text message, didn’t you?” Clara asked, raising her hand to slap the man, “You beast!”
“I didn’t send you a text message, but I booked that room. “ The man raised his eyelids and glanced at her, “Do you want to know why you came into my room that night? “
