Chapter 140
Zack looked embarrassed. “It was those so–called friends of mine who ate everything. I only had two sodas, and now my stomach’s completely empty.
“They tricked me. They ordered all the most expensive stuff, and I didn’t have enough money to pay. I… Anyway, I’m never treating them to a meal again.”
“And you still don’t realize how foolish you were by counting their money after they sold you out,” Angela said sternly.
The three of them went to an Eastern cuisine restaurant, and all the dishes they ordered were Zack’s favorites. As soon as the food arrived, he dug in with enthusiasm.
His carefree, oblivious demeanor was frustrating to watch.
“By the way, I need to discuss something with you,” Angela said. “I want to join the family business, and I need your help.”
“What kind of help?” Zack asked, his mouth full of seafood. “But if it’s work–related, don’t bother. I have no say with Dad. He doesn’t think much of me.”
Angela lowered her head, thinking for a moment, then smiled slyly. “You don’t need to do much. Just make them believe that the story about them organizing my funeral has already spread far and wide. Their reputation is ruined now.
“That’s all I need, understand?”
“Aren’t you worried I’ll betray you?” Zack raised an eyebrow, trying to seem clever, though he still appeared clueless.
“You won’t,” Angela said calmly, her smile serene. “Unless you plan to keep it from me. Otherwise, the three million dollars you owe me…
“Okay, I agree!” Zack hurriedly put on a fawning smile.
After Zack left, Dexter drove Angela home.
He seemed to be in a better mood today. The usual cold, intimidating aura around him had lightened, making him less frightening.
Angela appeared a bit distracted.
“Do you need help?” Dexter suddenly asked.
“What?” Angela snapped back to reality.
“Your father–he’s timid, overly cautious, and won’t give in unless it affects his core interests, “he said. “I can’t help directly, but I can create some momentum.
“Let everyone believe that Bill treats his daughter terribly. Ruin his reputation enough, and he’ll have no choice but to compromise.”

Dexter’s influence was far greater than Zack’s. It would be swift, effective, and untraceable if he acted.
However, Angela hesitated to owe him a favor. She had her reservations.
“Don’t worry,” Dexter said suddenly. “Consider it my apology to you.”
His words were abrupt, but Angela immediately understood.
Fine, she thought. If someone was offering, there was no reason to waste the opportunity.
“Thank you,” she said coolly.
Overnight, scandalous rumors about Bill abusing his daughter spread like wildfire.
“Oh my god, this Mr. Graham married a new wife, had a new son, and completely forgot about his daughter from his first marriage.”
