"Don't worry," Dexter said coldly. "I won't go the wrong way. Does your arm still hurt?"
Angela didn't reply immediately. After a while, she asked, "Can you put me down for now? My back hurts."
He was holding her in a way that made her particularly uncomfortable.
Dexter had no choice but to set her down on a flat area. Standing up, he looked down at her from above.
"Why are you carrying me? It's not like we're in a rush to get down the mountain. Don't think this will change my opinion of you," Angela muttered.
Ever since that incident, she had been particularly wary of Dexter; she was unwilling to be alone with him.
He looked a bit exasperated. "Do you think I want to carry you? You got injured because of my mom. I'm just paying back the favor for her so that you don't accuse us of owing you anything later."
Angela was momentarily at a loss for words, silently fuming to herself.
This was indeed an obscure path, a narrow trail hidden deep within the bushes. It was nearly invisible if one didn't look carefully.
"Anyway, how do you even know about this path?" Angela asked. "You're not planning to leave my dead body in the wilderness, are you?"
Dexter was drinking water at the time and almost choked because of her words. He turned to shoot her a look. "Are you dumb?"
He then took out a bottle from his pocket and handed it to her. "Here, drink this. Finish it quickly so we can keep going."
Angela didn't take it. She glanced at him, hesitating to speak.
She needed to use the bathroom. On the way up, she'd already had two bottles of water. Moreover, so much time had already passed that she couldn't hold it in any longer.
However, how could she go when she was in the middle of nowhere?
"Could you step away for a bit? I want to be alone," she said softly, avoiding his gaze.
"No," Dexter refused without a second thought. "I brought you here. You need to stay within my line of sight. If something happens to you, I won't be able to take responsibility."
How dense could he be?
"I need to use the bathroom. Are you planning to just stand there and watch?" Angela snapped, unable to hold it in any longer.
