"Have you finished your work?" Dexter asked casually. He removed his sunglasses and gazed at her quietly.

At that moment, Angela had yet to even wipe the dust from her face. Exhausted from a sleepless night of work and battling her anxiety, she appeared far more haggard than Dexter.

"I have something I need to take care of first. Please allow me to go. You should return to the hospital first. I'll visit you as soon as I'm done, alright?" Angela's tone softened as she recalled his kindness.

Her tone was like a man persuading his mistress to return to the home. Dexter had become the eager mistress, waiting for her arrival.

Dexter inhaled deeply and got out of his car. He approached her and commanded, "Get down first."

Angela rejected anxiously. "No. I have something urgent to take care of."

"Your face is so dirty. Do you want to embarrass yourself by going out like that?" Dexter sneered.

In an instant, a flicker of care appeared in the depths of his eyes.

Last night, after she'd left the hospital, he'd woken up and followed her to the disaster site. Witnessing her relentless efforts to tackle the crisis, he'd felt a strong urge to intervene and help her resolve all the issues.

Yet, he'd soon realized she was strong enough to handle everything on her own. So, he'd quietly stepped back and waited, silently supporting her.

"Alright, I'm going to freshen up." Angela stepped out of the car and headed toward the restroom.

However, Dexter grabbed her arm. Then, he pulled out a box of wet wipes out of nowhere and carefully wiped her face.

They were very close. With his height, he shielded her from the sun. It was the first time in a long while that Angela had looked up at him.

He looked very serious, as if he were handling a priceless artifact with care, afraid of making mistakes. When their eyes met, he glanced down, and his gaze was unfathomable. For reasons she couldn't quite grasp, Angela's heart raced, compelling her to instinctively look away from him.
