Dexter believed that he had finally made the right move. He needed to strike while the iron was hot by inviting Angela out for a meal and taking the chance to strengthen their relationship.
With that thought in mind, he got into his car and started the engine before dialing Angela's number, eagerly preparing his invitation.
"I'm out with Mia. I'll hang up now."
Angela's voice was light and cheerful when she spoke, and the background hum of a bustling crowd could be heard. She had actually gone out.
Before Dexter could utter a single word, he was completely shut down.
He instantly froze on the spot. His expression darkened like an impending storm as he clenched tightly around his phone.
This ungrateful woman had no conscience at all! How heartless!
Little did Angela know that she had just been branded as ungrateful and heartless in Dexter's mind. She had been bored staying at the hospital, so she had decided to visit Mia and drag her along to watch Zack make a fool of himself.
Lately, Zack had been dragging himself home every night, utterly drained. Clearly, working as a low-level salesperson was a nightmare for him. But to Angela's surprise, he hadn't quit yet.
The two of them arrived at the mall where Zack worked. The first floor housed the jewelry section, where Graham Group's "Zackstellar" brand had a dedicated store. Bill had named the brand after Zack years ago.
Although Zackstellar wasn't as renowned as international luxury brands, it was still well-known domestically and was sold in major malls throughout Eldmere City.
While sipping her smoothie, Angela pointed at Zack—who was energetically introducing a bracelet to a customer at the counter—and said, "There. He's the only male salesperson here. It's not an easy job."
Mia followed her gaze and spotted Zack's strikingly handsome face, his energy as radiant as ever.
