Angela had a feeling that Riley was going to trouble them.
"Ms. Graham, I recognize you." Riley extended her hand, and Angela shook it without hesitation.
"Oh?" Angela lifted an eyebrow, her response neutral.
"Your story is the perfect example of an underdog's success story—everyone in our circle talks about it with great interest. They all praise you for being capable and knowing exactly how to hold onto a man's heart.
"I didn't expect that you not only won your own battle but also trained a fine student. You two really are the perfect pair of best friends."
Riley's smile was anything but warm. It was obvious she wasn't friendly toward Angela—she even carried a hint of hostility.
She was the adopted daughter of Florence's brother and had been raised abroad. Riley had always been the daughter-in-law Florence wanted.
Because of that connection, Riley had had feelings for Zayn since childhood. As she had grown up, her feelings had remained unchanged. She had been waiting to finish her studies and return to marry him.
Yet, after just a year and a half away, she had found out that Zayn had gotten engaged to another woman and even gotten her pregnant.
The shock had hit Riley hard, and she had immediately rushed back. She had then learned everything about Zayn and Mia from Florence.
That was how Riley first got to know about Mia and Angela. Over time, she had sought out multiple opportunities to observe Mia and even openly provoked her more than once.
She had assumed Mia would react aggressively and lose control the moment they met.
Yet, despite all her provocations, Mia remained indifferent. She even graciously allowed Riley to go meet Zayn and asked the latter to stop wasting her time.
This, of course, infuriated Riley, but with nowhere to vent her anger, she had been forced to suppress it. And now, by sheer bad luck, they had run into each other here.
"Thanks for the compliment, Ms. Zamora." Angela scoffed, clearly unfazed by Riley's sarcastic remarks.
